I agree with the other interpretation to be honest. I really think that jim believes it is a woman's job. Otherwise why did he expect liz to back him up and agree with him and when she didn't he said " what's the world coming to".
What's the world coming to that men have to lower themselves to a task that the inferior gender should do is the clear implication imo.
