It's the same as the old one

Had I not been told it was new then I would not have realised that it was.

Note to self: don't try to become a detective.

Not very imaginative is it? Still - it's better than the TARDIS in the middle.
I preferred the 2005-2009 version myself!

A little uninspired since The Snowmen IMO

But it's clean.

Similar, but not the same. The serifs are gone, the DW symbol is absent, and the crossbar on the H is now diagonal instead of horizontal, like the Pertwee/McGann logo's H.

Looks quite sturdy.

I, myself like it. It's essentially a cleaned up version of the previous logo with the "H" in "WHO" made to look like the "H" in the Pertwee/1996 moview logo.
I'm glad it isn't a radical overhaul. I really like the 2010 onwards logo.

Only the Doctor is changing, not the show. Why does everybody wants to change everything?!!

its not changing 'everything'. And anyway. The show has always had a history of change. Its part of what's kept it on the air for over fifty years.

standing still is the enemy of Doctor Who. There are some people who would still wish for Tennant and Piper to be travelling around in the same old Tardis with the same old console with the same theme music and the same taxi logo. The shoe would've been cancelled if this was the case. There is of course an element of cost nostalgia that remains integral to the show but its a minor element. It should always change. Always keep moving forward. Never looking back. Nor because it daren't. Because it shouldn't.

That said this is a minor adjustment in type face. Not a revolution!

Anyway, this is the logo from a toy box. The official website or anywhere else hasn't updated the logo to this. For all we know, come August, a brand new design may be revealed.

Have any of you guys clicked on the forward button and found the pic of what seems to be Capaldi's doctor in a costume?

Matt's costume sans bowtie.

That's the 11th Doctor's costume (just not a great looking version of it, the figure is only 3.5 inches though and is a prototype).

So do I. This one looks quite plain, like they haven't spent that much time and effort on it. Tut! Tut!

You would've thought that they could have come up with a better one than this. Or kept the one we've had for the last 3 1/2 years.

I am looking forward to the next series. Me thinks that Peter Capaldi is going to be a lot like David Tennant's Doctor, being more mature in his personality and how he goes about things.

I also think that he's going to act a lot more alien than Matt's Doctor was.

In a way, it seems as though DW is going back to how the show was during the 70s, minus the poorly built sets, and bubblewrap and stuff.

Change is a good thing, I'd just like to do it progressively. For example, now we changed the Doctor, next season we could change logo and TARDIS, season after that companion, season after that again Doctor etc. That's how DW could keep changing, but also avoid creating eras (which is bad for continuity).

Isn't Doctor Who all about creating eras? That's part of its history. And I don't see how creating eras is bad for continuity.

I think that if they're going to change things, they should do it with the introduction of a new Doctor. The whole point is that the actor playing the Doctor gets to be 'the' Doctor for a new generation.

The only reason nothing else has updated yet is because the image I linked to wasn't intended for general public viewing. They'll officially announce it in due course, at which time we'll get a better image (bigger, and not plain white). The official website, Doctor Who Adventures, Doctor Who Magazine, any of them could formally reveal it. And I reckon it'll be long before August. Toys get released in quarterly cycles.
