River's Opinion of Each Doctor (The Eternity Clock)
ShootyDogThing
23-01-2014
Saw this and found it entertaining, so I thought I'd post it here

"One: Grumpy, Rude. Hangs out with teachers – boring! And the worst taste in
hats – I missed the fez

Two: Fun but wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him. Offered to show me
"this cool place on Telos" – but I saw right through that (And I hope he chokes
on that recorder)

Three: Now we’re talking! Hair like a lion, Velvet and frills. Amazing gourmand.
We had a lot to talk about.

Four: Good hair. Good hat. Has fourteen of those scarves. All the same. They
take up a whole lot of room to themselves.

Five: Very sweet but strangely short-tempered. Also obsessed with some place
called the Eye of Harmony. A nightclub?

Six: I fear this was the payoff of all those conversations with Three. He was
aiming for my hair and fell some way short. Also, is that what it looks like when
you put clowns through a wood chipper?

Seven: Surprisingly Scottish! Always thinks big. Would have loved to get my
hands on that jumper - and thrown it into the nearest supernova.

Eight: Velvet and frills again? So passé. But oh my word - GREAT DIGS! Got
lost in the cloisters one afternoon I could have sworn I heard some American
begging to be let out.

Nine: Leather jacket. Funny accent. Big ears. And don’t mention the war!

NOTE: Need to buy more mnemosine recall-wipe vapour. Can’t keep hopping into my sweetie’s life without it!"

There's some other stuff from River's diary in the game on this page: http://forgivenalwaysandcompletely.t...eternity-clock

It can be all quite easily dismissed as non-canon (there are apparently mistakes in the game), but fun nonetheless

I didn't think much of these, mainly because they don't seem at all like River (a bit like Mels, maybe, but this is River). Rather, they make references to fezzes and big hair and other stated facts about the character, and pair them up with fashion tips and quips about the Doctor. Not much actually seems to have been done to actually try and make the comments sound authentically like something River would say.

Teachers...boring? She's a Professor herself, studied Archaeology and fancies a Doctor. Now I'm not saying those things are at all boring, quite the opposite actually...and that's the problem. It doesn't make sense with the character really.

And quite how she knows these Doctors when Ten was supposedly the earliest one she met is also a minor thing, but I'm happy to overlook that for the sake of an interesting thread In fact all of this makes me really wish that Series 7 had built up to River being the one that entered The Doctor's time stream in The Name of the Doctor, rather than Clara. It'd make much more sense for her character and would actually give more credibility to the Doctor's attraction to her.

The only think I really liked about The Eternity Clock was the Emperor Dalek at the end of it... THAT was awesome, and I would love to see that gravelly-voiced monstrosity come up against Capaldi

two thing's.

1) what is the eternity clock?
2)would have liked to see her sum up of ten and eleven, even though she actually really did meet those two, still would have been interesting to hear how she summed them up in a few words

In fairness, The Eternity Clock is older than The Day of the Doctor.

I guess it'll run on a Mac as well ... if you install Windows on it first!

The system requirements on Steam . . .

Minimum:

Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512 MB or ATi Radeon HD 3850 512 MB
Hard Drive: 1.7 GB HD space
Sound: DirectX compliant sound card

Recommended:
OS: Windows 7
Processor: Intel or AMD dual-core 2.5 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 or AMD Radeon HD 6970
Hard Drive: 1.7 GB HD space
Sound: DirectX compliant sound card

If you have a Mac that reflects those requirements, it should be fine.

I never knew that PC games will run on the Mac if you've installed Windows. I've installed Windows 7 and our Mac meets those minimum requirements

Indeed. The game will usually see it as a standard PC, rather than a fruit badged proprietary overpriced toy!
