Which Tom Baker story had a "spaghetti" monster with one large eye?

I have bought a few Tom Baker stories on DVD recently and I was trying to remember an episode I first saw in the early 90s that featured a monster that looked like a pile of rotten string or spaghetti and it had one large bloodshot eye in the middle of the string/spaghetti mass.

I am pretty sure that the monster was from a Tom Baker story but I have looked on Google for ages and I haven't found an image of the monster. I can't remember anything else about the episode.

That's what I was thinking! Scarlioni, who cunningly keeps his bigger head inside his smaller head. This guy.

Yes, I'm almost certain you're thinking of City of Death. Brilliant story.

Also it would seem to be the same age as the poster.

City of Death! Julian Glover (?) becomes spaghetti-face monster!

It made my little cousin - visiting at the time - hide behind a cushion.

Classic Douglas Adams story. You can tell the cast had a great time filming this one. Great cameo by john cleese.

Must admit I was quite surpised at seeing Romana dressed as a schoolgirl when I saw this on DVD last year (for the first time since its original broadcast in my case), I guess it seemed 'mostly harmless' at the time.

Now its just further proof of the BBC's institutional child abuse - well it will be once the Mail notices it.

Thanks for letting me know and for the picture. It is funny how your mind can play tricks on you because I don't remember the monster having a body - all I remember was the stringy mass and the one eye - I think I must have been having memories of another monster as well and confused the two. I know there was a Jon Pertwee story with monsters that were a mass of tentacles (I can't remember the story's name).

Probably the Claws of Axos.

Those 'spaghetti monsters' in Claws of Axos, and the 'jelly monsters' in The Three Doctors remind me of the later shown series Space 1999 - can't remember the title now, but it was made into a film called 'Destination Moonbase Alpha'.(by putting the two episodes together!)

There was Alpha Centauri who had one big eye, not stringy though. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=do...2F%3B473%3B376

If it dosen't have a body, you could be thinking of the Rutan from Horror of Fang rock. It was just a blob and (vaguely) eye shaped.

You were maybe thinking of the Axons from The Claws Of Axos.

As for City Of Death, in terms of humour and sophistication it is the best Tom Story imo. Watched it more than times than any other story and I still love it.

Some of you should have your Doctor Who fan status revoked for not having seen City of Death.

Shameful.

The Claws of Axos - of course! I saw quite a few Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker episodes in the early 90 re-runs and I have obviously got the Axons confused with the villain from City of Death. I will definately buy the City of Death DVD.
