Trust me, I would love Kylie to step away from recording albums full of happy pop songs about parties and falling in love. I'm not saying she needs to go completely to the left and alienate her whole fan base, but it would be nice if she recorded albums that had more variety, more of an edge and were a little deeper. I would also like to see her involved in the writing process a lot more. I actually think her voice would suit the sort of sound that London Grammar, Snakadaktal, Say Lou Lou and GEMS have.
One of the biggest problems in Kylie's career over the last eight years or so is that her record label have often played it safe when picking singles. All the Lovers worked because it's a slice of classic Kylie, but it's also mature and euphoric (same goes for I Believe in You). Singles like Wow and Get Outta My Way are immature pop songs that a singer half her age should have released. X frustrates me because some of the unused demos were better than some of the songs on the actual album. She could have taken that album so much further. Hopefully with Parlophone out of the picture Kylie might be willing to take more risks and assert more influence over her music, something I think she could do on a small record label.
By the way, I think Sleeping with the Enemy has a cool 1990s sound. I didn't mean dated in a bad way.

Kylie has confirmed that she has left Parlophone. She has said that it’s nice to be able to work on new music without a major record label breathing down her neck. She’s at a point in her career where she doesn’t have anything left to prove in regards to chart success. I really want her to use this turning point to stretch herself and work with writers and producers who can bring something new and fresh to the table and help her spread her wings. She gets called a flop no matter what she does so she might as well stick two fingers up and just do whatever she wants. I love it when she steps outside of the box that people put her in. I really want another Confide in Me moment when she does something completely unexpected of her. She also needs to ditch Will Baker and Roc Nation.
I would be very happy for her to sign to a smaller label who can really help her evolve her music. If it means downsizing her tours then so be it. She has proven that she doesn't need big productions to put on a great show. Intimate and Live, Money Can't Buy, and The Anti Tour were all fantastic.
