Seems to be a bit of a change in approach to upgrading street masts around my area, each mast used to be done in a 3 or 4 day window with ground works on day 1 and 2 then mast delivery and set up on day 3 and 4.
Now they seem to be hitting over 8 masts at once now in Telford over a 10 day period, just doing all the ground works and pole bases only then adding the new masts at later date, must be a new on mass approach, one hell of a switch on if it happens all together.

Doubt it'll be MBNL'ed as Three have a 3G mast already in that area, but who knows? So long as there's 3G from all operators, that's all that matters ”

Has the 2G VF monopole gone?

Jaffboy151-The change in mast installations is due supply problems with the actual masts the actual supplier cannot keep up with demand and are obviously big bits of equipment to build.

So as they are in contract with the contractors to do the upgrades they are going round doing all the ground works and installing the cabs and new internals then putting the masts in as and when they can get them.

I know of two masts in Market Harborough where my office is based where the new cabinets went in and activated in October but still no new masts or 4G but 3G has had the boost but not as good as it will get as Vodafone/O2 are not doing the backhaul upgrades until the mast and 4G are ready

Oh okay, in which case it won't have been updated on Google Maps yet. Hopefully the micro link will be gone when fiber is installed, unless they keep the micros for backup?

That must be one hell of an increase in pace if they now catn get the masts quick enough.

I guess once the groundwork is done though the switch on should be fairly quick.

Still there when I passed last week.

O2/EE on the left, Voda Monopole on the right in the distance. Looking west.

Clewsy- It has to be remembered that the mast manufacturer is also trying to keep lots of other mobile operators happy with demand for equipment as like the UK other countries are doing 4G roll outs also the same type of masts are used for public and private wifi networks in some countries.

I remember back in April/May time Alifabs whom make the cabinets got into a situation where they could not supply them quick enough and had to increase the workforce greatly

Spotter's 'one-page' Guide to Vodafone Masts New and Old

I also updated the New Vodafone and O2 new 4G mast page to add another mast and some more info, including antenna model numbers for most setups!

I think Gloucestershire Cotswold and forest of Dean are just as bad poor 2G even.

We are just starting to see some movement in South Worcs, North Glos and some Cotswold CTIL sites receiving the treatment. MIP at Blockley was abandoned which was a shame. Stow on the Wold, Winchcombe, Borton on the Water are 4Gd up.

However Moreton in Marsh, Chipping Norton, Chipping Campden still left in the 2G world

Is it just me, or has Vodafone removed the zoom control from their coverage map, making it impossible to zoom out further than their lowest level? Pretty annoying!

Well, it's completely broken now!

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

I wonder whether it's an accidental outage, or possibly there could be a big map update in progress...

If you right click on the map, you can zoom in and out
