Well, the coverage checker is back online... and Vodafone still aren't predicting 3G coverage for Raunds (Northamptonshire)!

Raunds is covered by a crappy old 2G only mast (for Vodafone), and it urgently needs upgrading.
Sometimes Vodafone do not show on their map 3G or 4G prediction. Last week mast near my area was 3G and 4G upgraded and it did not show on the map any planned upgrades. I just went to Asda and when I entered I had 3 bars 4G(before NO SERVICE)

I do wish Vodafone would show where it has 2600MHz access on its coverage checker.

Well, in that case, let's hope that they surprise us, but those 2G only masts do need fixing and upgrading to 3G/4G.

Are all of the 2G only masts going to get upgraded, or will some never get done? I know that Vodafone is 2G only at Hunstanton also, though having said that EE's 3G doesn't get very far into the town/village center because of the topography (steep hill) and that the 3G panel isn't even facing the town. Once you get to the seafront it's totally gone.

I do think that, with 3G900 and 3G2100, Vod/O2 have got the capabilities to beat EE in terms of 3G/4G coverage (particularly with 800 on every mast) - but they've got to get these 2G masts done.

I saw that thread from a Google search and didn't realise it was started by you!

The problem with that forum is nothing ever seems to happen as official engagement from VF staff is so rare, and at best dead slow.

Wayne and some of the VF staff generally say mast frequencies within about one working day

I'm just along the road in G14 and getting 28 Mbps down at the moment indoors.
G4, G11 and G12 are quite congested at the moment, hence the speed I mentioned above. But I am not complaining, since the speed is at an usable level, and latency is very low too.

Coverage is getting better all the time around North Shropshire, South Cheshire and Staffordshire, some big 2g only areas to breach though, non are going to be an overnight fix, 2 big Hill masts near me cover vast areas, 1 above the village of loggerheads, Vodafone have there own mouldy 2g mast there whereas all other networks including O2 are on the large Hill mast, the area is fibred and EE have 4g from the mast so unless it's microwaved so shouldn't be too much hassle, the other on Camp Hill Nr Baldwins gate Staffordshire covers a big area and would be a big plus. This one seems to be a issue as both three & EE are on the same site as well as tetra, but they are only 3g, Vodafone is just 2g so backhaul seems an issue here for everyone.
Regarding towns and cities I don't understand why Vodafone hasn't added 2600mhz alongside 800mhz 4g when it upgraded them, surely if the backhaul is there, antennas have been changed it seems pointless to have to go back and add them 1 by 1 later

Some planning apps I have seen for inner London show L08 & L26 on them but most outer London nearer to me still only show L08 with the odd one showing future L26

M1Kos Although not 4G+ sites I have seen that quite a few Vodafone stores now have 2600mhz base stations in the stores with good backhaul behind it I regular get 84-90Mb download speeds.

But true 4G+ carrier aggregation I have only seen properly rolled out in London and then very select parts of Manchester and tiny part of Birmingham around the Mailbox but surprisingly not around New St train station or the Bull Ring which are the busiest parts and need the extra capacity.

I do know that a lot more base stations and masts in My area Leicestershire and in parts of Nottingham are upgraded for 2600 but for some reason Vodafone have chosen to not make them live and for carrier aggregation I suspect that Vodafone may be doing quite a bit of things in the background and will then release it nationwide once its at a certain level.

You'll need to tell CS that 4G doesn't work when it should (you could mention that another phone is fine which rules out coverage). .
Just done that on live chat. They said that 4G Services wasn't active on my account, so they activated it now.

Im still on 3G at the moment, but they also said it may take a few minutes to start working.

Edit: 10 minutes later after a reboot I have 4G

And to prove the point, does the HLR query return the different format?

That's similar to what I get when connected to my Sure Signal.

it's only when I travel I miss being on three as they and EE really have nailed the coverage along most motorways and major route, where Vodafone & o2 still have some 2g only zones.
Yep... Three seem good at this. Spotify streaming in the car!

I do not understand why Vodafone will start with VoLTE if they will nor run it at full power. What is the point? Can someone explain please

Not all phones with 4G support VoLTE, so if they up the power, some people will have data only coverage where their phone can't fall back to 3G or 2G to make or receive a call. Doesn't look good if customers have a signal but can't use it for calls, especially 999 ones.

Excellent that makes sense. But if Three run 4G800 at full power why I have in one room Voda 3G900 1bar ot E 2bars and the 4G800 signal on Three disappears? No service

Three are running 4G800 at higher power, but not from many masts so the coverage isn't that good, despite what their coverage map says.

I am sure that the mast which covers that area sends 4G800 and but in that room in the house only voda or o2 but not Three 4G800. Very odd

It's possible it's actually coming from a mast much further away than you think.

In my case, the 800MHz signal comes from a mast 20 miles away.

Vodafone,O2,Three and EE are on the same mast in Woodcote village. So from that mast I get 1 bar 3G900 vodafone but on NO SERVICE on Three 4G800 I am talking that in one room in the house there is only O2 and Vodafone signal but no 4G800 on Three. EE no signal too but they are on 4G1800

Just done the live chat myself, and I rebooted my MiFi after closing the chat and 4G is now working.

Now why couldn't the store I bought my SIM in do that at the point of sale? He spent ages typing into his computer...!

How do you know the 800MHz signal is definitely coming from that mast though?
