I thought the legacy side was being replaced also? Or am I having a thick moment?
That's in the macro network. In building and corporate solutions are a different thing altogether.

Does O2 have a way of doing speed tests without using up data (like Vodafone's Net Perform app, or EE allowing Root Metrics tests)?
The "my network" app from o2 does allow you to do speed tests and it also consumes your data. Tested it this evening

I've tried that now and it fails more often than it works (usually failing on upload test)! Seems totally useless and if it uses data then I'll stick to the Ookla app.

On PAYG, Vodafone are selling a Vodafone Tab G6 4G tablet for only £125 plus the obligatory in store top up. A real bargain.

Just get it unlocked soon after the one month of PAYG has finished if you wish to do so. But how good is the vodafone signal in Central Scotland?

Who actually manufactures the tablet?

Last week I mentioned some new bases for cabinets at a nearby Vodafone site, Well now there's also a new pole.

Anyone know what sort of upgrade this is?

Here are some photos, thanks to my dashcam (so excuse the quality, but of course it's not designed for site spotting!!).

The new pole only went up on Saturday morning, so I doubt any old equipment is going to be removed for a bit. Chances are the new equipment isn't even connected up.

There's a very good 4G signal there already, by the way.

PS. I've added a short dashcam video of the vehicles on Saturday morning putting the new pole up to the album above.

Before: Bog standard tri-sector integrated Vodafone 2100MHz monopole. Old cabinets look like RBS3107 and 3102/2106 which agrees with 2100MHz.
After is a Hutchinson Elara, which will house triple band panels. New cabinet appears to be a TEF Cannon

So near me is an O2 micro cell and according to sitefinder is 12M up and it does indeed cover a good radius outside of the group of buildings where it is mounted and a black spot on a train track - intentional or not I do not know!

It shows as a mast on the O2 site and when the VF site shows one of its big software upgrades in maintenance it also appears on the VF map.

Will this 2G only site be upgraded under CTIL so become VO2? As in does the CTIL cover EVERY site?

Once the vodafonica mast sharing agreement is complete CTIL will cover every site, however I'm not sure this applies to London.

Anyone seeing much coverage expansion at the moment? Most of the rural and semi rural upgrades seemed to have vanished around my area, mainly infilling remaining, nothing like the expanse of coverage thats taken place in the East.

South Worcs / North Gloucs we have had a few and are getting a few more. Issue is that then you have the old / new network split which makes voice coverage terrible due to lack of hand off.

Vodafone told the council about a year ago that 2G mast near me is staying 2G the upgrades which were approved by planning permission to add O2 and make it 22 m tall are shelved. Planning permission granted 2years ago so I guess some areas will stay 2G, well we did get upgraded to EDGE about a year ago.

Problem with Gloucestershire was it was ignored by Vodafone 3G for years, I think every local council has complained to the networks about coverage Gloucestershire has quite a large population but it's spread.

And now the AONB status prevents them from doing the job properly and the councils now object even to the MIP sites suggested and applied for.

Hope I'm wrong but it's seems Vodafone is slipping into old habits here in the West, almost all the planned rural & semi rural 4g upgrades have vanished off the map along with the planned extra 2g & 3g masts (O2 masts I think). The only stuff still there is some 4g coverage extention around the M6 and adding more masts to areas that already have 3g/4g, O2 seem to be doing a reasonable good job in the east, judging by the area I've visited, contract is up again in September so will have to see where we are at the end of August, EE is rubbish at home and with me not liking iPhones means no WiFi calling on them, which leaves O2, which around my area, means the same 4g as Vodafone but they have much more 2g coverage and 3g, but that will be 900mhz so will have to test if it works or not.

Don't give up hopes on EE they are likely to launch 4g800 soon which will mean there coverage footprint will expand greatly. As long as you get a 4G calling phone or VoLTE phone that EE support you may well gave hitter jackpot!

My other half is on EE and has just changed her phone from a iPhone 5 to the 6s, wifi calling seems to work well, not tried VoLTE yet, last time I looked EE wifi calling was only available on iPhone and some of there other features were not available on sim only, interested in seeing the true coverage of 800mhz when I launches, hoping it is before September so I can see.

With EE WiFi calling and other features work on iPhone 5c and later (5c, 5s, 6, 6s and pluses). Unlike Vodafone whom restrict to only the 6s and 6s Plus, and calls only, not SMS. Not sure what other features are missing, I'm on SIM only with EE (and corporate with Vodafone) and WiFi calling and VoLTE works.

EE do have other VoLTE devices coming online also If you have a VoLTE active handset with EE, EE are comitting to 95% landmass coverage which would promise 4g calling device near blanket coverage across the whole of the U.K.

EE even worse masts removed in rural areas and only 2G telegraph pole styles allowed here.
