VF/O2 have applied to build a new mast in a town near me that currently struggles to get 2G on both operators, so it's really needed.

However it's not going down well, there have already been sixteen objections.

I notice that a good number of the objections are the exact same letter but just signed from a different address? Do you think one guy has handed it out to his neighbours and asked them to send it in?

If you press the Documents tab, then view the associated documents, and then go to "Representations" you'll see all the objection letters (worth a read! They're all very upset that this "ugly" thing is coming to their little town. Poor mast.)

Have a look at the site location plan in documents - theres a photos of where it will be sited - looks like a scrap yard behind a caravan site! Hardly a glamorous location!!

is this inside the M25 as the same thing has happened near me an o2 site has been moved from one roof top to another just for 2G/3G as the Voda site around the corner is doing the 4G

That's standard for London; there is much more operator separation.

There is no reason why anyone can't send a letter of support, stating that they visit the area regularly and that reception is a problem. You have to fight these fkkkrs at their own game.

Here in Leicester one of these two has disappeared in the last few weeks.

I think each operator has to say how many sites have been upgraded and new ones added every year. So we know how far they are

O2 reported 93% outdoor pop coverage as part of the Q3 results..

93 percent is very good as EE claim they have 98 percent of the UK population but I am sure it is not indoor coverage. So VO2 are doing very well and very soon Vodafone should turn on the VoLTE as they wanted wider coverage which is just about 95 percent and by the end of this year I think VoLTE will arrive

My recent experience with Vodaphone's 4G network was that it was very,very good!
Coverage superb (I live near Bournemouth) and very fast.
The good news ends there!
Trying to terminate a very straightforward monthly contract in the recommended manner was a nightmare!
I phoned 5 times,spoke to 5 different people who all had a different understanding of how my request should be handled.
During one call the lady on the other end said 'so you want to continue with your contract then'!!!!!!
Eventually a supervisor came on and the contract and balance owed me sorted there and then.

O2 are around 9-12 months behind EE. EE were at 94% pop coverage in December

I have been in many places where EE should have 4G indoors but non of them was right. Outdoors yes but as soon as I step in 3G or 2G. So if this is EE 4G indoor coverage they have a lot more to improve

I highly doubt Vodafone will be doing VoLTE this year. They just don't have the track record of rolling out newer technologies quickly.

They'll also likely bodge it in some way like they do everything.

If O2 network prioritise in the same as Vodafone do I think it will be a while yet before we see VoLTE and may require an adjustment in the level at which phones dump 4g and switch to 3g as at the moment if you lock your phone to 4g the coverage is in most cases virtually the same as 3g from a mast on most days, but Vodafone seems to drop you down to 900mhz 3g very quickly once signal levels drops a bit. If VoLTE was rolled out now, call continuity to 3g would have to be nailed down tight or else calls would be dropping all over the place.
Apart from around my home area if you stick your phone into 3g/4g only you can nearly always get some sort of data signal albeit very weak now which is a massive improvement on say 6-8 months ago.
Vodafone will never match EE in terms of speed in the majority of places in my opinion, but if nothing changes on EE, soon it could well match or exceed it in terms on data signal availability, EE seems to be dragging it feet upgrading alot of these orange 2g masts and still no sign of the much needed 800mhz which if restricted to VoLTE handsets only will mean its absent from a good chunk of the subscriber base.

The fact that Three have reserved 800 for coverage and chosen to use it for extended call support doesn't mean O2 have to, right?

CTILs 800Mhz 4G might offer lower headline speeds but it absolutely wipes the floor with EE for in-building coverage.

I recently spent time around Yorkshire for work. In most places EE had excellent outdoor 4G coverage but as soon as you stepped foot inside a building it dropped to extremely weak 3G or even useless EDGE. In one building EE had a 2G/3G/4G site less than 100m away but it just couldn't penetrate at all.

CTIL by comparison still had strong 4G indoors with a perfectly usable 12-15Mbps at 800Mhz where EE had no signal at all.

EE really need to install 800Mhz on more sites in built up areas otherwise CTIL is going to take the lead. It's all well and good EE proclaiming incredible top speeds via aggregation, but if a significant percentage of EEs customers cannot get a signal indoors then it's hardly a benefit.

To 2g which runs at 1800mhz and 3G at 2100mhz so what happens in areas with only 800mhz coverage?

Definately! 800/900 are just so much better than 1800/2100/2600 for building penetration and I'd rather have a good 20meg than 100+ that doesnt work indoors
