There still appears to be a website for them - only 18 years out of date!!!

I remember Ionica quite well. So glad I never managed to persuade mum to change over from BT lol.

Back on topic, it's nice to see Vodafone putting 3G (and presumably 4G) in new places across Cambridgeshire. At last.

I know some of you love your mast porn on here and well today's helping will blow your minds. I have some serious sized content to look over.

Look at this bad boy with its smaller sister behind.

Which network(s) do you smart people suspect are coming from these masts then? I know some of you can tell if they have been 4g'd or not.

Also this medium sized one is just along from it as well.

The "bad boy" looks like an Orange 2G/3G mast with Vodafone 3G only below.

The "smaller sister" looks like it may well be MBNL (so perhaps old T-Mob, Three or both)

The "medium sized" one is definitely O2 2G/3G with Airwave antennae below.

I received new carrier settings from Vodafone last night and what a difference, my phone holds 4g now where as before it jumped around all over when I had a low/weak signal! Also if it drops to goes or edge during a call it goes straight back up to 4G as if it is now a priority. It's switches between 3/4g much better now and has improved my battery life no end. Thumbs up from me!

Can you manually update the carrier or do they just send it?

I image you will get an instant prompt if you contact to iTunes! I went to check fb last night and there was a prompt to install it, also I have heard if you go to general and about scroll down to carrier and wait 15-30 seconds it will force the update through not sure if that is true!!! Good luck!

Vodafone coverage map updated. The mast near me has appeared on it, although surprisingly its another rural one, most of the town still not covered.

Big upgrade plans for Crewe and Nantwich by the looks of things, not a big change around Stoke and Newcastle under Lyme though, and looks like the one mast is all were going to get for a few months in Market Drayton and not the main water tower mast which desperately needs upgrading, surprised not to see any planned upgrades yet for Telford and Shrewsbury so far despite a few masts I suspect are easy wins so to speak. Still its slow but steady pace.. Can't see any network bar EE hitting 90% coverage by year end.

Its interesting though as they are all over the place in Staffordshire. Noticed they were working in Biddulph yesterday on one mast.

It does seem like they are doing large areas in Cheshire but bits of towns or areas in Stoke / Staffs.

Looking at the Crewe and Nantwich predicted coverage, it's hard to say how many masts they might be upgrading could only be 1 or 2 prominent ones in each area, or if the actual coverage will be smaller, they've certainly made a mistake on the mast in market Drayton as it makes it look like a large area is covered when in fact it's not, my guess is this is the predicted coverage area of the main mast in the town on the water tower or both masts, but this one couldn't be upgraded for some reason yet (only single carrier 3g at the moment so must need new backhaul) just nobody's told the map people yet. back to Nantwich/Crewe, even with fringe coverage from these towns and not the nearest masts the coverage and speeds will be much better in the rural areas where I live then those presently on three and maybe even EE which goes from feast to famine on the hill sides and where orange masts still reign supreme, which will give me and my contact food for thought..

If its like my area then maybe they are planning still on doing this other mast in Market Drayton.

I notice on that new map they are finally planning to do those two half finished masts that I have posted images about before. That means 3 masts will cover a massive area according to the map. It does seem like they will have some good coverage once complete.

I am starting to notice it now ...I see H on my phone way more now.

Hello O2, could you please do what you're supposed to and add 4G to the masts that Vodafone added 4G to six months ago. Thank you.

Are o2 falling behind? Voda were slightly behind in the last Ofcom report. I hope we're not in a situation where Three and o2 aren't rolling out because they both think that they can take each other's networks over.

Area enclosed by black border = O2 4G.

Wow. Bit of a difference there. Seems Vodafone might be determined to rollout properly this time. Three and o2 don't seem to give one. Three can get by with the MBNL network but o2 need to seriously up their game, they are going to be left in the dust otherwise.
