I certainly can't see the benefits of mobile payment for me personally when I already have a very thin contactless card. You could slide it into the back of your phone case of you were that fussed!”

We don't all have phone cases on our phones though

Like I say I don't currently have a contactless card but I could use contactless with the apps out there, only Vodafone Wallet and EE Wallet at the moment but I can't actually use EE wallet as I buy sim only phones, I wish they would spend some money updating the app so it would work with unlocked phones.
The benefits I see is you may be standing in a queue at your newsagents so while you are waiting you reply to a text on your phone. You get to the till, tap your phone and voila, paid.
I see it as a matter of pure convenience, if you have forgotten your wallet you might have your phone, and if your phone is closer than your wallet you can just use that.
It isn't a game changer yet but I see it as I nice addition and I don't have security issues with it. If I ever did I could just turn it off.
