It's been really great seeing the coverage grow round here this year from nothing to indoor 4g out in the sticks, still a few more masts with upgrades scheduled around Crewe over the next week's so will improve even more, Nantwich now has 4g too which is very good, Vodafone won't be challenging EE any time soon on the speed front, but away from speed test world in reality Vodafone's 4g travels far and doesn't Vanish soon as you move out of sight of the mast which makes it very usable..
Now I just wish they would complete the upgrade of the O2 mast I pass on the A53 at Hodnet, the 4g cabinet was delivered almost 2 months ago but still waiting for a mast upgrade ![]() These are still others that are half started and then just left that I know of, however maybe they are doing the simple main ones before filling in the gaps. |

Right I think I've figured out why I can now get EDGE and weak 3G on O2.
It seems as though my nearest Vodafone mast now allows O2 2G/3G access. I've been able to get weak 4G on O2 for it for few weeks now (same signal strength as Vodafone) so it's strange that they've just now added O2 2G and 3G to it? The issue I have now is my phone is constantly swapping between the old O2 mast (GPRS only I think) and this one, which can't be helping battery life. |

What I'd like to know is whether signal bars on your phone means usable service. In all my experience of VO2 3G900 you usually get a strong signal but just no data throughput. It's all going to voice I guess. There is nothing behind it.
Are they solving these issues as they roll out 4G? |

Was going to switch to Vodafone from Tesco but the negative comments online have put me off completely.
It seems that O2 is benefitting quite a lot from Vodafone's investment in upgrading masts to 4G. |

Voda has much more bandwidth than o2 what more is there to say if they're using the same sites Voda should ha E better speeds

I've moaned about Vodafone on this forum before but I'm beginning to completely lose my patience with them. I went to Oxford yesterday, where the centre is supposedly covered by indoor 4G coverage, but I spent most of my time on completely useless EDGE and basically useless 3G. Even 30 seconds from the Vodafone store which boasted something like 'enjoy Oxford on the network you can depend on', my phone was stuck on EDGE and I was completely unable to use the internet.
Last weekend I was in Bristol where their network continues to be in a similarly unusable state. It's extremely frustrating not being able to use the internet the majority of the time even in places which are supposedly covered by Vodafone's 4G upgrade. We're only 3 months from the end of the year, by when Vodafone originally said they'd have 95% population 4G coverage. I really regret going with Vodafone, and as soon as my contract is up I'll be dumping them for EE (who had 4G everywhere I was stuck on EDGE in Oxford and Bristol) despite the fact they essentially charge twice the price I'm paying Vodafone now for half the data allowance. Although I'll be paying a lot for the privilege, at least my phone will work. Even in London I can barely make a voice call on Vodafone for 10 seconds without it dropping back to 2G! So much for HD voice and getting push notifications while on a call. This was particularly annoying last week when I had to ring a company to sort something out and they kept wanting me to bring up old emails to confirm things - I couldn't do that at all while stuck on Voda 2G. This isn't just one bad area though - it's been the case in Paddington Basin, Streatham and Wimbledon. Their network truly is a disgrace. The only positive things I can are: 1) I nearly always have a data connection in London - but then most of the time it seems to be on sub-1Mbps speeds even on 4G and 2) their roaming deals in Europe are way better than anyone else's - and their networks in other European countries are generally way better than their UK one anyway (I know Three are cheaper in Feel at Home countries but they shape the traffic so aggressively I'd rather pay Vodafone £3/day for unshaped traffic and tethering). Still, it doesn't make up for the fact that I can barely use my phone every time I leave London and can't stream video etc. even in London. I realise others may have different experiences with Vodafone but whenever my contract is up for renewal I like to read other people's experiences and if I can help someone else avoid the dud that's Vodafone's network then that's a good thing. |

I have a strong suspicion that carrier aggregation isn't working on the new iPhone 6S/6S Plus.
Have a feeling they need to update their carrier file. Come on Vodafone, pull your finger out. |

Yeah tried 21.1 in iOS 9.0.1 and 21.1.5 in iOS 9.1
Both clearly not aggregating carriers as I'm getting 4-10mbit Having said that, maybe their network has just fallen apart in London. Who knows |

Hello all, first ever post here!
![]() I've noticed that oddly my old iPhone 5S which has a PAYG SIM (the 50gb offer) in it (that I got just to try out coverage) will connect to the 2600 MHz network (Band 7?) when around the O2 and North Greenwich, but my Pay Monthly main contract on my main iPhone 6 Plus won't and sticks to 800MHz (Band 20?). This is even after putting them both into Airplane mode for a while and then trying the Field Test mode again. Any ideas? |

Could this be because the newer phone is cat 6 and can aggregate between the bands so it stays on 800 but will use 2600 in the background to speed up the data when available. I might be wrong but I do wonder how a cat 6 phone displays the signal if it can use both bands at once!?

I think there is actually a problem with the new Iphones in doing carrier aggregation as there are a number of reports of users on both Vodafone and EE not being able to use the 4G+
These users are then putting their sims in other Cat6 devices like Samsung S6 in same locations and getting 4G+ signal and full carrier aggregation speeds that you would expect. The question is are these problems caused by the hardware e.g Iphone 6S or are the networks not allowing these handsets to use both frequencies. I do find it very strange that Apple made such a big thing about it being LTE=A and 4G+ yet they not have a logo to show when you have that type of signal with it just showing 4G |

Over here, the LTE networks shows up as 4G. I suspect most people don't care if carrier aggregation is actually working, as long as it isn't stopping the flow of Facebook posts and tweets and videos. You've never been able to immediately tell if HSPA is working or not either |

Not happy with Vodafone. And yes apparently if you jailbreak and edit the carrier settings you can force CA as per: http://www.itweakios.com/carriercrack/ http://forums.macrumors.com/threads/...pport.1823891/ |

I'm guessing its a carrier file related thing as the carrier file was what switched the 6 to using the 2600mhz band instead of 800mhz as priority

Interesting root metrics report yesterday about London. http://www.rootmetrics.com/uk/blog/s...ban-experience
Shows how much Vodafone have improved that they are challenging EE. |

If you are in an upgraded area like I am they are very good. Otherwise they are poor for data. I have been with them for two years and I have found them to be great.

I could take you to a place near Victoria where you could lose signal despite walking 100 metres and getting over 100Mbps.
London is by no means perfect yet. But it's getting there. |
