Only seems to be Part of Torquay and part of Newton Abbot that have been upgraded to the new Beacon network in that area

Vodafone 4G+ very rapid today. In fact, for me it represented a milestone. It only seems like yesterday that I got my first 100Mb/s download (on EE) and now a double ton on Vodafone.

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1494555724

Absolutely amazing for around 1PM on a midweek day although it looks like the download burnt out the upload a bit!

Couldn't quite repeat the trick but it was no fluke as Rootmetrics around the same time got 168.

I know some here will say it's pointless but for me it's a demonstration of the progress that has taken place over the past few years. I'm sure one day it will be commonplace.
I'm guessing that was big slice of 2600 it was leaning on there. Hopefully EE's extra 2600 slice will allow those speeds to get thrashed. (purely for just a big willy contest) As right now the 1800 lets the side down in places where there is 2600 & CA. I've seen close to that though.

Shame the Rootmetrics app doesn't show any speeds over 99 at the moment. That will change soon though with the next update

I would love to have a go at thrashing it but EE in their infinite wisdom have decided that I shouldn't be allowed to aggregate my carriers unless I take out a contract with a phone so I'm limited to normal double speed 150Mb/s.

I even offered to pay the 5p charge for each carrier I aggregate

The Rootmetrics app isn't restricted to 99 as far as I can see. I've seen well over 100 a few times in different locations (the 168 screenshot was within a few minutes of the 200Mb/s speedtest). However I can't find any >100 results on the map so maybe in doesn't record them?

As posted earlier haven't Vodafone got 20mhz of 800mhz band to play with and 40mhz of 2600mhz band to play with ?

Along with like another 25mhz unpaired ?

With just the above they can get 225mbit roughly no ? At roughly 75mbit for the 2x10mhz at 800mhz and the 2x20mhz at 2600mhz slice ?

That's correct. Vodafone can currently top at 225Mbits which is more than impressive.

VODAFONE LIMITED

880.1 – 885.1 MHz

925.1 – 930.1 MHz

890.1 – 894.7 MHz

935.1 – 939.7 MHz

902.3 – 910.1 MHz

947.3 – 955.1 MHz

1715.9 – 1721.7 MHz

1810.9 – 1816.7 MHz

1944.9 – 1959.7 MHz

2134.9 – 2149.7 MHz

801 – 811 MHz

842 – 852 MHz

2500 – 2520 MHz

2620-2640 MHz

2570 – 2595 MHz (unpaired)

I wonder what they're using out of that and what is simply going to waste ?
It's just the unpaired 2600MHz they aren't using, everything else is in use for 2G, 3G or 4G

If they choose to do 3DL TDD/FDD carrier aggregation then they will be able to do about 335mbps.

For the first time yesterday, I managed to connect to Band 7 courtesy of Denco's list of places in Manchester where you can connect to them. So tried Alberton House and I have to say I was extremely disappointed. Probably just having one cell around the whole stretch of that area is probably the reason as to why speeds are so dire. On the plus side I managed to take some decent shots while stood on the bridge. Amazing views.

Indeed, both me and lightspeed have tested that mast and have been disappointed, certainly none of that 200mbps we are seeing from London. I just can't figure out why that is the only 2600MHz mast I've found in the whole of the city centre, whether they have upgraded the rest but kept them switched off for some peculiar reason, or that actually is the only upgraded mast which would be very embarrassing.

Glad you liked the views, they were a bit of a shock to me as well. So close to Deansgate and I'd never seen the bridge until a couple of months ago when I found that mast.

I've tried the spinningfields mast on Vodafone and I was disappointed on band 7, only got 20Mbps, I wonder what the issue is. I mean they gave that one announcement and then nothing. If you look on Vodafone DE and Vodafone CZ (as someone pointed out to me a while back) then you can select coverage by band.

You can see something in Vodafone's unpaired 2600 TDD spectrum in Canary Wharf and it's been there since early this year but nobody can connect to it. I don't know what it's being used for. Maybe it's for small cells or Vodafone's own use?

Oh yes I had forgotten about that, Vodafone do have a very strange rollout strategy
Maybe they are waiting to do TDD/FDD aggregation until they being the TDD into use? I damn hope they actually use it though unlike all that 3G spectrum which went unused for years. Obviously things are showing promise on the 800MHz side of things but I don't think anyone really knows what's going on with the 2600MHz, both FDD and TDD.

Got a new VF PAYG 3-in-1 Big Bundle SIM to test out any 4G improvements in my area as my old VF test SIM has expired.

Do these new SIMs need topping up first before they will connect to 4G? So far can only connect to EDGE and HSPA+ without any credit.

Never mind 20Mbps, I got about 14Mbps and that was around 8pm when it was quiet. I mean this thing has the potential to hit upto 150Mbps download and about 45Mbps upload but it did not come anywhere near that! I was like what on earth! Let's be honest if it wasn't for trying to locate this mast I would've never been on this beautiful bridge. I might put a link to a shot I took that evening.

Yeah it is pretty shocking. If they kept just that one on for testing, why just that one? It's been a good while now, unless they have more 2600MHz enabled but you can only connect to them whilst carrier aggregated. Maybe that's vodafones strategy. So basically you would need a cat.6 device which I don't have

When I got a the 50GB PAYG SIM I needed to credit £20 rather than £10 to get 4G.

Yes from my testing time on Vodafone you need to have some credit on things 1st before you get access to 4g, either one of the big value bundles or load up dome payg credit and take the £5 500mb for 30 days option.
If you do the latter remember to speedtest via the net perform app to avoid using all your credit in a few tests..

Quite a bit of work been taking place over the past week around Nantwich, Crewe & parts of Stoke on Trent, so some more masts should be live very soon.
The mast at Nantwich train station had had all its panels upgraded this week so should give the town centre some good 4g coverage when live.

Hi

Quick question, apologies from deviating from the thread subject.

My fiancee bought a VF sim to use while abroad in Turkey and uses the Traveler Plus. If I fone her from the UK will she be charged for the call??
Thanks

Hang on, I can speed test without using any of my own data?!!?

Yes download the Vodafone network app and it does tests without using any of your data. It also does background tests, a bit like the RootMetrics app.

Yes. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/vodafone-net-perform/id946160163?mt=8

Description confirms no data allowance used.
