Lot of planned maintenance across wide areas of the country today again, doubt they are visiting masts so must be some work for further up the chain.

Two being done in Bolton today. I know they're both 3g only and one had a pole swap last Friday.

A lot of work happening in Milton Keynes at the moment, 3 masts being replaced this week and another 5 over the coming few weeks.

Oddly after O2 4G and Vodafone 2G and 3G were added to my local mast (Etchinghill) last week, O2 have updated their coverage map to say we only have 2G here now. The 3G still works fine as it did before and the new 4G is working too.

I had a upgrade on my local mast last night between 12 midnight and 2am, just a software update?

O2 coverage checker is only updated monthly and it's usually the first few days of the month so your 'new' coverage won't show until the beginning of November.

Wish they would finish off upgrading the O2 on the A53 roundabout near market Drayton and the large mast near Baldwins Gate in Staffordshire, it would fill some massive 2g only coverage holes and Vodafone reliable service on the other, plus it would give me seamless 3g/4g coverage between home and work 😀

Just seems odd that they removed the 3G coverage from the map when it's still working

Further to this, a couple of guys tinkering with the panels on top of out bt exchange today cabinets wide open also. This site was o2'd and upgraded about a month, month and a half ago. Doesn't show on either o2 or vodafones planned work site?? Any ideas

Vodafone 4G is on my local mast at Etchinghill now, just Three left to add 4G to it now.

I'm still yet to leave London since moving to Voda from Three but inside the capital I've been surprised how much 4G I've had. Hopefully they are going for it outside the M25 to catchup EE.

The days of "Skodafone" when it comes to data are hopefully over!

Found a bit of an odd thing on voda's map..

Go to the coverage checker and type in PA78 6TE

You'll see it's a remote Scottish island, yet according to vodafone, there's a 4G mast on it? It says no 2G, but strong 3G and 4G, and from the map it's clear that it's showing there's a mast on the island, not that it's picking it up from elsewhere (not that there's anywhere close that is 4G)

Sitefinder shows no masts on the island except an airwave one. Complete mistake on the map then? There couldn't be absolutely no 2G, yet 3G/ 4G could there? And out there in the middle of nowhere? :S It's quite odd...

I'm finding more and more these days that I'm on 3g or 4g on o2's network. I think it's clear the improvements they have made over such a short space of time.

One of my devices on O2 (Tesco technically) now sticks for dear life onto 3G which would be great if the 3G actually was good enough to allow data transfers; it isn't.

However it's such a change to be reporting this for o2/VF ..it used to be the EE customers who got 3g in most places. It does appear that where cornerstone have gone the coverage is excellent and detailed.

I must just say.. Visiting friends in Midhurst and 800mhz 4g is great, 30+mbps on a weak - 123db signal downstairs in a thick walled house at the bottom of a hill surrounded by trees.. Not drifting in and out like 1800mhz tends to do.. Just need more of it now!

The Midhurst transmitter has Vodafone's panels almost at the top of the mast, at something like 90m, so the coverage is quite significant: http://pedroc.co.uk/midhurst.htm

Just shows how useless Sitefinder is getting and it will be much worse when the Cornerstone and MBNL upgrades are fully complete. So much change not getting updated.

Site finder is years out of date, it was set up for the networks to show coverage, then they stopped updating it. I would say at least 5 years out of date now.
