How do you get that?
It's an LG service menu.

*Vodafone have 2x20MHz of 2600Mhz. Not 1x20MHz.

Great table - bookmarked.

How does 1x work then? Does the terminal and mast have to handle the signal "half duplex" rather than 2x being full duplex?

I moved to vodafone 4G this week (didn't even know you could get it in Belfast until they called and tried to sell me something) and I'm loving it!

I get 4G all over Belfast, even where I work and my family live (could rarely even get 3G), I've had no dropped calls and the speeds have been brilliant.

More than happy to pay the extra £7 per month (I had 20% already on my line rental) and I'm just that little bit closer to being a hipster with my premium spotify membership.

5457#*MODELNUMBER#

e.g 5457#*350#

It won't work on any phone unless it's LG.

I can count on one hand the number of calls I've made on EE that have maintained HD for more than 10 seconds. More have started on HD and then dropped to standard quality, but even then, not that many really.

I know everyone laughs at O2's call quality but I don't think it's that bad really - I have good ears and O2, Vodafone and EE on 2G sound very similar to me.

I wonder if/when we will see cross-net HD calls?

I love the line near the end...

"all you need is to 1) both have compatible phones 2) be in a HD voice area c) both be on the vodafone network"

So that's most calls out then! still it is good, and it's just O2 lagging behind the rest now.

Love how 'Sam' says it's a new technology! Been in use since September 2010 on Orange in the UK according to good ol' Wikipedia.

Sounds as if your phone (or the person at the other end) was in a weak 3G coverage area on EE then, dropping back to 2G.

Here the problem is not enough people have handsets that support HD voice, too many iPhone 4 and 4S, and Galaxy S2, and S3 users.

Bit of a disjointed article (supposedly about testing standards) but there's mention here of 'imminent plans to roll out carrier aggregation to take on EE's double speed.' I think the 2600 MHz that can sometimes be seen is actually part of 800 + 2600 CA even though Vodafone, like EE don't actually need CA for double speed. In any case even without the benefit of CA, I've seen very good speed on 2600 MHz.

Does anyone know what the network named 'Cable&Wireless UK' is for? I did network scan in the local Tesco (pretty much a 3G blackspot) and it picked up this network and nothing else. I'm assuming its Vodafone related, but what is it for? Business users?

It is a fixed-mobile convergence service which was sold to business, with Tesco rolling it out. It uses cells that are licensed as long as they don't operate over a certain height or power which runs on C&W and then roams onto (I think) EE when outside of the home network, which only covers the business property, like the store.

The benefits are that employees have 1 number that rings at their desk and also their mobile and 1 voicemail and lots of other calling features that bridge a traditional PBX, but with the benefits of it all being fixed or mobile throughout the whole site.

i have also seen the Tesco solution in use and shows C&W in the network operator name. I am a little surprised that it uses EE and out about although may still be a lgacy deal before the Vodafone purchase I expect once the contact is up that it will all move over to Vodafone.

I ahve noticed that C&W seem to be doing a lot work installing more fibre and ducting all over the UK not sure if this is for the 4G rollout or if they have gained a big nationwide contract. I did hear rumours that Sky wre looking at using C&W core network to carry some of their broadband traffic especially in less built up areas

Vodafone want to use the C&W network to rival BT for backhaul - further reinforces the decision to purchase and harms a huge rival in the process. Whether it actually takes off remains to be seen.

MaverickJesus- I have heard that C&W are very busy trying to win new business with Barclays bank being a recent one as well as renewing contracts with BBC for carriage of DAB and tv to transmission sites along with some Iplayer traffic.

As I mentioned previously they are very busy installing miles and miles of new fibre and ducting in both busy commercial areas along with a number of rural places.

4G has arrived in for the first time Ayrshire! Not from EE (which may surprise some) but from Vodafone and O2. Vodafone have an active 4G mast in Kilwinning looks like O2 may have one too. So well done!

I've no experience of using it but Voda 4G along the South coast looks fairly comprehensive and widespread on their coverage map. Especially when compared to EE in the same area.

Sadly, EE 4G speed in Swansea started poor and has just got worse and worse. For 3 months it's been stuck at this. I guess the ping is good...ish

I've noticed near me we now have a Vodafone mast upgrade that seems to have stalled. We have a post in the ground, about 4ft high and well that is it. Clearly an upgrade as next to the existing mast. Have they slowed down this roll out then?
