But, unfortunately for Sky, (and unlike the TV) there is NO need for anyone to phone them to cancel broadband or phone!
When you sign up with another telco Openreach inform Sky of the transfer date and Sky Talk and Broadband get cancelled on that date. ...unless their retentions bods call you once you've put your order in with someone else, which can happen... |

Very true but in that instance you wouldn't have a chance of Sky throwing a deal at you. Doesn't always happen but if you don't call you'll never know...

When I originally spoke to Sky to query it (since the operator never mentioned it at the time of me signing up) they were adamant that it was fixed into the system and there was no way it could be waved unless I signed up for TV as well. ಠ_ಠ
I kicked up a stink in an email to Sky saying they are essentially charging a customer money for something they are not buying from them. It's like buying a tin of beans in a shop and being asked to pay more for it because you haven't bought a tin of peas as well. I said the package was missold to me by their staff and they should honour it .Nothing doing. I requested that they listen to the recording of the call. They just said recordings were for training and security purposes only and any findings would used internally. Sky firmly shot down my complaint saying blah , blah , sorry but computer says no. I requested a £2.50 discount off my broadband or even a refund to my account as means of compensation. They wouldn't have any of it due to "system restrictions." |

Just give them a bell and they'll always offer you a deal. I've just got half price fibre broadband for the next 12 months.

Didn't happen to me ... I just got a "sorry to hear you are leaving" letter. I did feel they could never have matched the package of benefits worth well over £250 (including Quidco) that BT were offering to change to them!

Ex O2/Be customer deals with SKY.
It does depend on who you call at Sky CS. There is a separate number for ex O2/Be customers. Having been a very satisfied "O2 Home Broadband" for several years I felt anxious about the quality of Sky's broadband service locally. I had been hesitating to choose Sky broadband until the actual date of changeover from the O2 infrastructure. As everything seemed to be working fine after changeover I decided to call Sky CS and was offered free line rental for a year and unlimited broadband for only £2.50 a month! Total £30 per year!
![]() I am hoping that I will get a reasonable offer again after 12 months! O2 BB always came up with a good deal at the end of each 12 month period, but I suspect Sky wont be as generous. |

I was most unimpressed with Sky. When I spoke to a 'real' O2 person on the changeover team they were very helpful and offered broadband at £7.50/month for 12 months, saying that Sky would have to honour it. I then switched, but Sky started billing the full £15, insisting that O2 didn't do broadband any more and refusing to offer the agreement.
It was a big battle, but I persevered and eventually they backed down. But I doubt that I'll stay with them when the 12 months is up, I want an ISP I can trust. |
