In society I value freedom of expression, up to the point of incitement to violence or shouting 'fire!' in a crowded theatre. Anything less, people may feel free to disagree, all that Voltaire stuff about defending somebody's right to say what you vehemently disagree with. That certainly includes all comedians.
All media has different rules though - banning children from 18 rated films is fine. In general I don't think adults need 'protecting' from many ideas or statements. And I don't like people being silenced, as I fundamentally don't trust whoever is in charge of the silencing.”

Sounds reasonable.
Freedom of speech carries a price though. To allow magazines the freedom to carry the message your not beautiful if your not a size 10, the price is a few anorexic men & women. Same with Jim Davidson type jokes, the price is a few racist teenagers, adults, and a lot of suspicion that viewers are racist. I'm not sure i appreciate the importance of freedom to tell racist jokes. but i wouldn't ban them, i'm very glad they are politically incorrect though. As for the magazines, i'd ban them tomorrow.
