I feel the same, I appreciate he is a fantastic skater, but I just dont like him, something I cant put my finger on

I want Suzanne or Hayley to win but I do think Ray will win

The fact that he was put last in the running tonight was a giveaway as well.

Makes no difference if she's stuck with a nice ballet to do while Hayley gets the more exciting, faster, more vote friendly Charleston with an obvious story to act and Beth gets a strong theme, distictive steps and more exciting music.

I know I'm a soppy so-and-so, but three routines brought a lump to my throat tonight:

- Beth's
- Ray's
- T&D's

I've just turned over to +1 so I can watch them again.

Same here.

Ray was FAB-U-LOUS! He's very talented and gives 110% in everything he does. And I really enjoy watching him skate. Don't get the big ego remarks, he's always struck me as being a nice guy.

The show really does NOT need these sort of 'gimmicks' this season. The public (well, DS members ) don't like them in 'ordinary' years, so why oh why do the producers think that we're going to like them this year?

For casual viewers like me, with no axe to grind, its performances like his which rescue a dire show. It was extremely enjoyable.

Ray and Marie were fabulous tonight - you couldn't see which one was the pro, so well done to them.

I thought Beth was great too.

I was surprised by Kyran - he wasn't that good. I think he can skate very well but his dancing isn't as strong.

I feel Bonnie will be in the bottom two tonight which is a shame - she is so elegant. Joining her will be Kyran, Zaraah or Gareth. I think Bonnie will go tonight.

I couldn't help thinking tonight that Bonnie looks about ten years older than when she was last skating. Is the pressure getting to her or is she not very well? She looks much older than her years.

I accept that, but I don't like to see a talent show where it's clearly obvious who is going to win when it's ages and ages away from the final because it just makes the series boring to watch. I like to see more of a competition where any one of them could win. That is why I think Series 3 is considered a great series by most because Chris and Suzanne were in competition with each other and either one of them could have won.

There's about 3 good routines a week and an oK one or two, and they decide who gets them or the dull ones.

within the routines, they seem to have run out of new moves and many people are already getting the same ones. who gets best music most exciting dance and most rounded routine does better.”

I understand what you are saying and agree up to a point, but frankly many of the professionals would've struggled to put across that routine as well as Ray did, so I don't think any of the other celebs could've done it so well. Similarly, had Ray had, say, Sam's routine he would probably have delivered it better and got better scores than Sam did.

You may be right, I have no real interest in the show or its politics, and absolutely no idea as to whom most of the contestants are. I might get more interested if there were more performances like that one, though.

And, of course, Chris has been banished to hell by ITV

I didn't know how old she was so googled it. I'm shocked she's only 49!

I think she's a lot thinner than she was. Not a good look as you get older.

They manage it fine in competitions, but it needs the right mix of skater and routine.

It's still early days and there's definitely people who can compete with Ray. I don't think he'll top the leaderboard every week.

Hmm...Lapinskas got a classical ballet routine last year (and it was the one routine I liked him in)....ended up in the bottom two.

I love the Flower Duet but it was a demanding style that I felt Suzanne didn't quite deliver the controlled precision to really nail it.

Couldn't agree more! His face said a lot at the end of tonight's show, I think he's realised just how many people can better him.

It was a true competition too because each got a couple of great routines so there was a level playing field of choice. The weaker contenders didn't suffer getting routines much below their capabilities, and both the top contenders got enough to shine.

Here, its totally down to T and D who gets a series of good routines and who gets dull stuff. Each female routine tonight could be done by a majority of the people there, and they widely differed in mark potential and voter appeal. That may be inevitable when Tand D would have to create more good routines for each show, otherwise, than they have in entire recent series - but its a rigged playing field, with predecided winners and losers.

Much better show tonight. Having a theme gave logic to the music & choreography for each dance and helped give the show an overall coherence.

Ray, Zaraah, Hayley, Beth and Sam all impressed me.

Suzanne and Matt have become a bit meh.

Gareth out please.

She is almost 10 years older. This is the ninth series and Bonnie was in the first.

If you remember on last year's threads, people said it was time for T + D to retire from the series as their choreography was bringing the show down. I think this has been confirmed. Some of the stuff is ridiculous.... Andrei said he couldn't waltz, so why give him that to dance....

She got the 9s for presenting it. Robin said the skating was too simple - which it was - inevitably as it was a graceful ballet. Ray got to show off his speed, and jumps, and Hayley got to dance the most vote friendly dance there is, with fast steps, and a ready made character to act.
