No no, they are very community minded, and signal to their neighbours if there is food to be had. Pleasingly, the collective noun for vultures is a committee. The OP would have done better to have compared Jim's non-Dappy-supporting fans to eagles. Eagles seem pretty self-centred, and never hang out in laughing, chatting groups. But "Jim's fans are nothing but a bunch of eagles" might not have conveyed the desired air of irritated grievance.

I think his point is that Dappy, as Jim's only friend in the house (as he was perceived), went through a phase of being praised and flattered by Jim's (far more numerous) fans; but now that they are in straight competition with each other, they have gone back to attacking him.
BB forums nearly always get very tetchy and irritable towards the end when people realize that there will only be one winner, so he is very likely correct.
Dappy seems extravagantly keen to be everyone's best friend, and was almost simultaneously expressiing his love and devotion to Jim and to Linda, even when they were at daggers drawn. It is rather endearing, and almost makes me forgive his belief that dry humping a girl when she bends over is an acceptable way of conducting a conversation.
