It was very close, but I think she did more skating, more steps. Kyran was doing a lot of lifting.

I agree. I thought Zaraah's routine was beautiful, and she skated with a lot of expression. I had the feeling maybe they sent her home because she isn't getting many votes and they don't want the same person in the skate off every week

So would I. To me she looked more like she was actually dancing on ice than Kyran (who I've found quite awkward and mechanical and lacking in chemistry with his partner).

After Kyran's performance I didn't think Zaraah had a chance of beating him, but her skate off was amazing and I thought she would actually do it.

I would also have saved Zaraah. She's beautiful on the ice. Kyran was saved purely because he won his series IMHO.

I think that played a big part in it. They'll want Bonnie and Gareth out next to have top 6 as the previous champions.

At the end of the day it's ridiculous that either of these 2 were in the skate off whilst Gareth keeps getting saved, not surprised though.

Chasing Cars was always a beautiful routine & liked the changes made. Right decision to save them - Kyran I think has lots more to give though but needs routines to show off his footwork & speed across the ice more.

I would have saved Zaraah as well but don't think either deserved to be in the skate off

That thought flitted briefly across my mind.
Might be a kindness in the long run

Watching Kyran I thought, good choice of routine, that'll probably win it,then part way through Zaraah's I saw what I liked so much about her and hope briefly returned.

I would have saved Zaraah too. Kyran's skating is all about power and he delivers consistently on that but he is lacking in some of the finesse that is necessary to give that overall performance that just grabs you.

Kyran is the better basic skater, and Robin will always vote for that , and often Karen will join him. Zaraah had a decent routine, but Kyran had a series winning one - so its reasonable for the other judges to split.

The bigger problem will be if Robin has to judge between Sam and anyone else who does everything but basic skating far better.

I like Zaraah so really disappointed she's gone, although both her and Kyran did very good performances.

I expected Robin & Karen would vote Kyran though - Karen especially was never going to boot him out in favour of Zaraah after he'd let her appear in his shows as a 'headline act'.

Zaraah was brilliant in the skate off…. far better than Kyran. She should have stayed… so why didn't she. Did the fact that sadly in spite of doing very well each week, she is not getting the votes seal her fate. It was not the first time in the bottom two. I feel for her.. she was great, cannot fathom how either Gareth or Bonnie beat her in the votes.

Cannot fathom why some question others voting reasons.

I vote for Bonnie and was delighted to see her through - but agree that Zaraah should have won that skate off.

Kyran is a powerful skater with strong arms who does the same footwork every routine. Take out Nina's acrobatics and you are left with pretty basic skating. It doesn't matter what the music is. He was given rock 'n roll music as it has lots of lifts so it was more of the same. I loved Zaraah's performance tonight. She had lots of different steps, she skated smoothly across the ice and she really connected with Andy. She gave the emotional performance the music required tonight. She made the story believable. Very sad to see her go.

I thought Kyran did the better skate. I didn't think the headbanger worked with the piece, but obviously they wanted to include it to show of that he can do it. Zaraah's had some lovely elements, but they seemed out of time at several places, which made the whole thing feel clunky.

I do agree that it's possible the judges were swayed to keep in a former champion over the person who came third, and would probably have been back in the skate off next week if she'd been saved.

Totally agree - Zaraah's skate off was possibly one of the most beautiful and classy routines I have seen on the show.

I really don't get the attraction of Mr Bracken - he just looks like a rugby player on ice. There is just no grace or engagement to it.

Depends how you use him. If you wanted to make him look good you would give him roles that required strength and power, with suitable music, and that he could act. If he can do more spectacular lifts than Ray can, you let him do that and learn new ones. If you give him the skating tricks he can do that Ray can't, he will look more competitive with Ray. We know Ray can jump - but we don't know if Kyran can jump, or still do axels - because no one has given him any to do. As Jason said, routines like Chasing cars suit him. If you give him nothing routines, or routines that don't fit his size skills or character, or routines that don't have tricks to make up for acting experience, he won't impress.

Its the same elsewhere. Whichever of Suzanne or Hayley gets the charleston is going to be top female that week. It would be a big leap for Beth to master in a week. Hayley or Beth wouldn't be cast as Ballet Barbie - wheras Suzanne could be. Suzanne gets the short straw by default even though she could do their routines too. Bonnie could turn her hand to a Charleston, or a scots reel , or ballet - but none of the other girls could score with the dull routine she got.

Were they in the same series? Otherwise it's hardly comparing like with like, even disregarding progression since.
(not a dig at your comment Sparkle, just an observation about the decision)

I preferred Zaraah's skate off to Kyran's and would have voted for her.
However, like has already been said, I think the fact this was her second week in the sake-off may have swayed judge's opinions (apart from Jason's who always decides his way whatever).

What I find interesting is that, for the second week running, Zaraah's skate off routine was so much better than her main performance and can only put that down to her having more choice over the skate off than over the 'proper' routine, which, on neither occasion showed what she was capable of.

I agree with both those comments; I don't get the Kyran-love. His skating is ok but like you say there is no grace, etc.

I was less surprised that Zaraah was in bottom 2 - again. I seem to remember (though accept I might be wrong) that she was often in the skate off in her previous series, which means people are just not voting for her. I don't understand why; she seems a lovely girl and her skating is often beautiful to watch.

I would have saved Zaarah too.

Kyran can skate confidently on the ice and he's a real power house, but he has no finesse. His skate off routine was the best I've seen him do, but overall Zaarah was the better ice dancer.

Comparing Kyran's ability to Ray's, I think Ray shows how a male skater can produce fantastic routines without performing lots of lifts. Same for Sam really too.

If Kyran skated more smoothly between lifts, his performance level would shoot up. Lifts may be his strength, but he will need more to stay in the competition. If he's in the skate off again, I think he'll only be saved if he's up against Bonnie or Gareth.

I agree about Kyran and lifts. Trouble is, we've all seen them all before so they no longer have the WOW factor they had in earlier series. And other than that Kyran is very powerful and confident on the ice, but, as you say, there is no finesse that lift his routines out of the ordinary.

I would have saved Zaraah too, she improved the most between her series and the skate-off IMO, criminal that she was in the skate-off IMO but what a gracious person
