While I agree this is disgusting, I don't really understand how this is newsworthy. People get beaten every day and we don't hear about them. He is not in the public eye (it could be argued that neither is his sister) so why the news coverage?

Because its the Daily mail the paper is trash! I only read bits and bobs online for entertainment value

I'm guessing it's relevant because Big Brother is current and in the news. Also the reason for the beating - because he is deaf, that thank goodness is not an everyday occurrence. So very sad that he had to go through that.

We had a thread on this yesterday. It became Jim's fault he says things that make people do stuff like this.

I agree that it's probably been given a higher news priority because his sister is a former BB housemate.
