IQ Test for BB6?

Just reading a thread about Jade earlier, and it reminded me of just how *thick* some of the past BB contestants have been. Sure, I can see that it might be amusing for a while... but wouldn't we profit better if we selected somewhat more intelligent housemates for BB6?

So here's my suggestion: When screening potential BB6 contestants, subject them to a mensa style IQ test, and filter out anybody that doesn't meet a certain base level (say 125+).

It' s a foolproof way to keep the chav's off our telly this summer, and would hopefully lead to some more interesting conversation/debate, as let's face it, BB is ALL about the level of interaction between housemates. Or do you want 15 weeks of people sun bathing?

Remember Tickle, Nasty Nick, Brian... these were all housemates with something upstairs, and we need more of them! Although we could perhaps let 1 or 2 chav's in just for the heck of it, it would be interesting to see how they'd cope.

Talking of Tickle, I found quite a cool IQ test here.

Would be interesting to know the IQ's of some of the forum members

(My score 140 btw..)

Brian? The same Brian who knew practically nothing about anything...except Destiny's Child and who's #1 in the charts, as Dean would say...

So, you've just come on here to tell us about your IQ score then?

See you and raise you

I think Brian was sharp and quick witted, and that made him entertaining. You need some brains to have wit.

Glad to see you agree with me on JT though, after all, this was the man that made a solar powered pool heater using only some hosepipe and a black bin bag!

Very true... I wouldn't complain if we got a houseful of Brian's for BB6...best housemate ever, if you ask me...Perhaps balance it out with 6 Anna's though...

He's a smart one alright... charging people almost a tenner a month for full reports on the results of their IQ/career/personality tests

Despite the fact the pool was already heated tho'

Nah. 12 intellectuals would get pretty dull after a while. So would 12 thick people. Half-and-half more like. I really enjoyed Germaine's 'debates' in CBB, and I do agree there is a place for that sort of contestant. What we don't want is 12 know-it-alls running around shouting "I bet you dont know what the capital of Cape Verde is..."

Yes, but I'm pretty sure he even pointed out himself that he did it because it was something to do. One of Jon's persistent themes is how boring it is in the house.

I remember them and would prefer not to have any more of them. Nor any more Scotts or Camerons or Marcos (who were also intelligent).

BTW, it's interesting that no one has listed Shell, for example, or Mel, or any other HM with "something upstairs" that I'd actually enjoy watching or listening to.

125 would cut out 90% of the population on the old count and the new one they used on the BBC IQ shows moved all the figures down further so you would be in the top 2-3%.

Personally I doubt if any of the 3 people you mentioned would pass your own barrier.

The other problem is that the "average" was 100 and now seems strangely to be around 108 on the new scale so you would have a show full of people far brighter than the audience - 13 Germaines - which would mean horrible ratings. A few thick HM are good precisely because everyone can feel superior to or sympathetic towards them - thats why there have always been either thick HM or ones who were so quiet you never knew..

It isn't a very good idea really is it?
To be representative, which BB somewhat claims to be, they can't be elitist.

I like having "thick" / "chav" people in there, they're funny - to laugh with as well as at. Some of the most entertaining moments in Big Brother have come courtesy of housemates like Jade and Emma.

Only thing with Shell was, she turned everything, no matter how trivial, into a bloody lecture. I personally dont really want to listen to a lecture, for the sake of entertainment.

I'd also like to add i'm no dummy either & am interested in people. But I really don't want to listen to 10/12 people, for 14/15 weeks wittering on about things I more than likely would have no interest in.

They have to get the balance right & have people from all walks of life.
I also want some people there that I can laugh at/with, cruel, as that may be.

OK, but at least if we had some sort of acceptable level (around 100-110), we could filter out the Jade's and the Emma's!

Surely we don't want anymore of *those* types do we???

I beg to differ!

It isn't funny watching mentally retarded people on TV, and there's a fine line between having a giggle at someone's expense, and basing an entire show around the hilarity of someone's stupidity. I think you're getting into very dangerous snobbery territory then.

Yeah, ok elena, I'll settle for half-and-half.

Sadly though, if the previous shows are anything to go by, it will be more like 10/90 in favour of the thickies.

Bah, some people have to find fault in everything!

OK, in that case, might I remind you of another of Jon's genius inventions - The Tickle Toaster:

A toaster with a time delay to allow that second slice to be the perfect buttering temperature. "I don't want to make any money, it is my gift to the world."

Find fault in that!

Hmmmmm, maybe put another slice of bread in while you are munching away at the first slice.
Or only have one slice ..............

I dind't find Shell so lecture-like. Anyway, bright HMs don't have to be dull, or talk about uninteresting things, or be "intellectuals", or (as thenetworkbabe had it) "Germaines". Though some of them might be Marcos

Put the second slice back in the toaster while you're buttering the first slice, which only takes a few seconds so the second slice won’t burn. Once you've finished buttering the first slice you just pop up the second slice and butter it.

I quite agree 'bright' HM don't have to be dull, but I found Shell to be extremely dull & boring. Even her weedy whiny voice got on my nerves I dont want to listen to a monologue, or as I said, a lecture about even the most banal things.
She even turned some task into a complete bore for me, when she was going on & on & on about painters.
