Something about The Bells Of Saint John and Clara

Was it ever divulged who gave Clara in the present day the number to reach the doctor in ancient times?

It was quite a big bit that put Clara and the doctor together but has almost completely not been mentioned?

No I don't think it did- it could have been that the woman just gave an ordinary number and the TARDIS transferred it or something. Regardless, I doubt it will be mentioned in the future as it no longer seems significant, however you never know...

It will turn out to be herself as an old woman.

This very much feels like the new 'Who blew up the TARDIS' question.

But it's a valid question all the same. Now that Billie Piper has come and gone again it's not going to have been Rose as many suspected, it's unlikely to have been River as it doesn't make much sense, and you can't even fall back on the idea that it's an echo of Clara herself...because she'd recognise herself.

I suspect we're supposed to just overlook it.

'sigh' again. This surely is the hallmark of moffat's tenure.

So, RTD is allowed the woman in white, but SM is not allowed the mysterious telephone woman? (Where's the rolls eyes when you need it)

Both guilty as charged m'lud, but SM still has time to answer this.

It seems like it should be vitally important since without it the Doctor never would have found Clara and lots would unravel in consequence. It would have made sense for it to be River but it obviously wasn't. Precious few other people would have the number for the TARDIS and how many of them know how much he needed to meet that girl?

Or wait until it's answered. For which there is still time until Clara leaves.

This is so much more ambiguous than 'Who blew up the TARDIS' - which was signposted but not guided towards.

Quote:

"Silence will Fall!"

Two episodes later

"We are The Silence? Silence will Fall!"

Who blew up the TARDIS? Oh, the Silence.

Not if this was a much older Clara. Say one in her 70s.

But then why when Clara is fed up of TARDIS travels would the Doctor drop her off in like the 1970s?

It doesn't necessarily have to be the original Clara herself, she could be one of her echoes who managed to reach old age?
