I think Jim Davidson is a toned down, not-as-funny, version of the character Sid James played in the Carry On Films.

The thing is that Jim is 60 now, and he won't get away with it.

it's slapstick comedy that not everyone will find funny

I think he just about got away with the Casey jokes , but far enough I think, and he should think first next time , rather than try too hard to be funny.

The desperation to blacken his name is funny

Jim to win!!

I saw her as an innocent and naive girl that hasn't been around too many people different than herself (which she claimed) and made a silly error of judgement but just because i felt that way or took it that way doesn't make it absolute. Some of the black housemates and a few others were very offended by it and saw it as racist, etc. And alot of viewers didn't seem to take it kindly either.

Because "it's a joke" doesn't take away and dismiss how they feel, or took it.. or perceived it.

Just trying to say that "it's a joke" isn't some eraser of people's feelings, perceptions.. it doesn't excuse everything and make everything ok. Is all.”

Talking of which, wasn't there a film released called @White chicks' (or something) where two black dudes whitened up and dressed up as white girls? Was there anything from white girls express how offended they were by that??

I really do understand the sensitivity of this sort of thing but people must always view this in the way it's meant without being silly.

I want Jim to win, if not come 2nd to Dappy

- but I do think his humour tonight with Casey, even though I know and everyone SHOULD know it was obviously his humour and a JOKE, he did go bit far,

and I am likening his humour to Sid James from Carry On Films, which are 70's 80s slapstick comedy not everyone will appreciate and I don't think it works now really, and Jim should know that and not go too far, because many won't and didn't find it funny.

that film was hilarious - really enjoyed it and don't know anyone who found it offensive in any way.

No one did, that's just it! It's just some girl on TV a while back put chocolate on her face and got slammed for it! There really is no balance! Neither the actors in the film or the girl covered in Cadburys chocolate were being racist.

Not true at all. I have come into this thread and aired my honest opinion on this matter. As soon as I watched it unfold on TV I knew that there'd be a thread on it, and was looking forward to reading other posts to see what opinions were out there.

So no Broxi Bear, for me this has nothing to do with blackening anyone's name. No matter who the person was delivering the joke, I think a thread would have appeared to discuss the content of it.

the only reason for the thread was because there were so many suggesting Jim was being seedy and a dirty old man in the way he spoke to Casey and it was all being blown way out of proportion.

- but I do understand why some are angry at what he said, and can see how it can be seen so negatively... but it is JIM DAVIDSON, it was kind of thing i'd expected him to have said a lot more on CBB, but have been surprised that his humour hasn't been like that

- it was a bit close to the mark, but I don't like the way it has almost been insinuated he meant what he said literally, which is nonsense. I think Jim's humour is like Sid James crossed with Les Dawson, and it is not the kind of humour many in 2014 would perhaps accept or find funny. I think its harmless, just very dated.

No probs, it's only some FMs that are 'outraged' (I think they make a living out of it to be honest). From the tweets I read on Twitter, Jim is still hot favourite with lots of positive comments after tonight's show and the few and far between negative comments are from people that appear not to have liked him from the beginning anyway so whilst his comment was perhaps close to the knuckle, it hasn't quite worked out as the 'downfall of JD' comment that his haters have been waiting for; you know the one that will show his true colours and get him kicked out of the house

BIB: I would assume a lot of voters on this show are younger than Jim, as Charlotte from GShore won last year, and so if that's the viewing age group, then Jim probably won't win. I was shocked that Charlotte won last year, but then thought about age group who would vote.

- and Jim may attract some votes from those who've changed their opinions of him through the show - or get votes as some have seen the others being way OTT - it's hard to call. Dappy I think may well pip Jim to the post as he's coming across well, when he isn't taking his kit off.

Hasn't Jim been favourite right from the off-set? He has it in the bag in my opinion.

Ollie was favourite at the start if I remember rightly.

I think he was too - and as soon as he appeared to slip back, they seem to air him giving an 'opinion' - which he got slated for by Luisa - and the BBOTS haven't done a show based around Dappy yet, perhaps they're avoiding that for some reason, not being a cynic or anything !

I totally agree, Jim is far to over suggestive for my liking, even sleazy!

I think he's going to have to watch the kind of humour that probably give raptuous sniggers and gasps of shock with uncomfortable titters of laughter during a stage show, but the kind of humour, knee-jerk off the cuff jokes he's now used on CBB, because it doesn't wash on TV audiences on BB

Jim was joking of course, but it may well be as a result of being relaxed enough in the house and with his target of the joke, Casey - and there surrounded by cameras, so Jim's not naive - I think he just probably thought it was another one-liner and was ok to say

I don't think he was intentionally meaning to come across as 'sleazy', as I think it's just Jim's humour, and pales into signifcance somewhat compared to some of the stuff that's been said and done on this year's CBB - BUT he has to be careful not to cross what i'd call a line , again - Casey laughed, and took it as it was meant , a joke, but even so, it was crossing a line.

I think it can cause a bit of an over-reaction, and has, but it is Jim Davidson,, not Lionel, and if Dappy or Lee had said it, I don't think they'd have been as much of a fuss made. I wouldn't be surprised is his comments to Casey are raised on BBOTS, and should be really, let's just wait and see - or if BB call him up for it,but unless Casey took offence, I doubt it.

In any other environment, and to another HM, such as Liz or Lind he wouldn't have said such things, he knew Casey would laugh and that was the point wasn't it - to make her laugh and lighten the mood.

He just seems to be saying more & more comments to Casey that are making me uncomfortable. The one he whispered to her on last nights main show I found particularly creepy in light of the bathing comment.

The women who praised Jim hadn't seen the footage as they visited earlier.

jim's a relic from the 70's -- his humour is pervy and people who justify it are as unevolved as he is. i'd NEVER say to a friend's daughter 'i'd still be bathing you if you were my daughter'. that is just gross. the fact that some people here call that sort of thing 'funny' horrifies me.

The problem with the joke is that it's a dirty old man joke. So if he doesn't mind being seen in that light (a la Sid James) then that's fine. I don't think he'll win many new fans with that brand of humour though. In some ways it makes him look older than he is. If he wants to be seen as cool and down with the kids and not sexist, he'll need to change his humour.

He asked Luisa why she thought he was sexist - surely telling that sort of joke is a prime example?

He doesn't need to win fans. His stand up shows sell out already.

But she is not his friends daughter she is his friend and they are comfortable enough to be able to joke with each other
