Would be a good time to changes LCN 55 from 5 Later to 5+24.

The move makes sense but it's unfortunate that this channel is only on when people are asleep or are getting ready to go to work. Ideally, it would get longer hours at some future stage because it does show some quite interesting documentaries.

An ideal candidate for a streamed Red Button service?

Seems they are doing everything possible to get the EPG full to channel 65, so it triggers the move of the childrens and News channels.

The community Channel has subtitling servuces from the minirity broadcasters so if it moves to 100% IP delivery ... Some others will be in trouble with ofcom

Well, it's there. Barring any last minute reshuffles, 64 and 65 will be ABC Shopping and Bonanza Bonanza, probably from Thursday.

That's not what was suggested: The Community Channel could at least on Freeview avail itself of the Connect TV service that allows stations like QVC Beauty to be available outside of Freeview broadcast hours. So in Community's case: 0200-0800 via terrestrial broadcasting, 0800-0200 via IP.

Of course, as streamed channels don't support subtitles, a stream with the subtitles already on screen could be created, if this was a legal requirement, I suppose?

I'm intrigued as to what will become of channel 57? Could the likes of Sky News object to the move if channel 57 isn't taken? Could Arqiva suddenly magic a channel like 'TV News' onto the EPG to fill a slot ? Based on 'associated channels' ruling, Heart TV should go on channel 57 in Manchester, but the issue with Local LCN's isn't sorted yet...?

Just thought.... there's a DTT licence for "TBN Europe" that hasn't yet materialised on Freeview. If that popped up, the two local mux streams went live and there was a shuffle down to fill 57, then it will be time for The Great Freeview Children's and News Channels Move.

Not for YouView viewers, considering the moves to introduce accessibility options not available elsewhere would be a real step backward if it went to a MHEG-IP service for that YouView boxes do not work with.

There cant be nearly 65 entertainment channels on freeview already? Surely there are still a few gaps around? if so shouldnt DTT fill its gaps before triggering the move of kids and news?
Currently LCNs 48 and 57 are free they should be filled first?

Nothing stopping YouView ISPs from showing their charitable sides and streaming Community Channel 24/7 within the 400-600 channel range, alongside their pay TV services?

Incidentally, TalkTalk YouView users can get access to the three Box TV channels that are behind 4Music's streamed red button and thus inaccessible on a YouView box via the TalkTalk TV channels in the 400 range.

I believe the wording was "when LCN 65 is allocated" not "when all the LCNs up to and including 65 have been allocated"

I expect that will happen, but they need to hold off filling the gaps for a little bit longer...

As they receive free airtime on all platforms, perhaps one of the MHEG-IC providers could fund this for them...

Having looked at the LCN allocation rules with regards itv4+1 earlier back on Monday, I was wondering if Digital UK, in accordance with its own policy should be looking to fill channel 57, before allocating further numbers - it appears that the rules are flexible enough to keep the channel number vacant for the time being:

Paragraph 8.4 explains what happens to vacant LCNs when no PSB or associated channel is available to fill the slot. It is at Digital UK's own discretion to trigger a shuffle-up opportunity. However, it obviously does make sense looking at the wider agenda to hold off from filling the gaps.

Lotrjw: only channels 48 and 57 are currently unassigned (that we know of). Other gaps in the listing may be due to channels operating in certain regions only, so that they can't be used nationally.

Well Digital UK should allocate them first before doing anything with 64 and 65!

Perhaps Digital UK are currently examining claims from various channels for the vacated slots and have frozen allocation pending a decision. Presumably after they are allocated the other channels could then be simply shuffled up the EPG.

Is this going to be one of those midday changes, as it hasn't happened yet, despite a rescan?

It's just happened. ARQA just gained an extra entry in its LCN table. 87 now has a slate saying that the channel has moved to 63.

My question about The Community Channel is why was it in the news section on freeview? On Sky its in the documentaries section!

Just a reminder, when 65 is allocated there's a 16 week countdown to the Children's and News changes.

Here's another question. Where would Community Channel be now if it had been in the General Entertainment genre from the start? Somewhere in the 20s?

On and another thing, if Community Channel is PSB, it will be hopping up, won't it?

There's a "Community Channel has moved to 63" on 87 as well (as noted on the Change Log).
