Didn't see it, but remember it being a huge story. The Beatles had stopped touring in 1966, and no one really ever expected to see them live again.

The Beatles always said their best live performances were before they became famous, because once that happened, there was so much noise at their shows they couldn't even hear what they were playing. The equipment of their touring days was nowhere near what it became later on in the 60s, and it is the one real omission from their career, a truly great live performance.

This was probably the best.

I think their amplification at Candlestick Park was the equivalent of what some bands would now use in a pub.

I vaguely remember the news item but I remember more clearly that the live version of 'Get Back' was used on TOTP. I also remember it being the first time I really started to listen to them.

I was still at school up in Lancs......but of course remember the get Back video which was widely played on TV

I hadn't realised they had played 9 songs.....I thought it was just Get Back

Didn't U2 do a homage to this in one of their videos ?.....in New York maybe ?
