Loved him in HO, just hope he turns out better than dull Pete.

I didn't like him in either HO or Casualty. He was playing the same wet blanket type character in both. No doubt he'll be exactly the same in ED...

I remember Dudley Sutton (the father) from EE years ago. Also Lovejoy.

God, these soaps are all so incestuous - there seems to be a smallish pool of actors who just flit from soap to soap.

Considering there are thousands and thousands of actors out there who never get a look-in, it's clear that it's a matter of who you know, not what you know.

Its not necessarily who you know - its very risky taking a chance on an actor who doesn't have a good soap track record

Yep, very difficult for an actor to get a foot through any door

Yay I love James! He was hilarious as Finn (as proved again in Hollyoaks Later last year) so I can't wait to see him in ED Loved him as Abs in Casualty as well.

Dudley Sutton is a brilliant actor and will be a brilliant addition to the cast.

James Redmond, on the other hand, always comes across as a complete bellend.

Agree about Dudley Sutton, (loved him in Lovejoy especially).

Don't watch HO but in Casualty he just seemed like HarmlessMrBland. *yawn smiley*

Maybe we'll see a different side of him in ED? Hope so anyway.

He'll fit right in with the other recently arrived ex-HO crew then.

Yeah of course Redmond was in Mile High as well as Casualty and HO.

Was best by far in HO though - and who knows after ED he could go back!

Both Alex Carter's and James Sutton's characters returned to Chester after visiting the Dales.

Anthony Quinlan (Pete Barton) also was in HO as Gilly Roach (not too sure that he could ever go back). He actually looks totally different and older (even though he would be obviously) to when he was on HO as Gilly.

Pete seems to have gone down like a lead balloon unlike the other, previously mentioned ex-Hollyoakers in ED.

Oh bloody hell - Ruby as an ex-boyfriend!!!!!

I was under the impression that Ruby had been out & openly gay her entire adult life.

But no - just like Ali & Vanessa, it seems Ruby has a heterosexual past too.

I hope they're not going to copy the plot of Last Tango in Halifax where the gay woman sleeps with the ex boyfriend just to get pregnant.

When Ruby lost her baby - didn't that leave her unable to have children and therefore infertile?

No - they only removed one fallopian tube.

BIB: Especially with all that business with her disapproving mother?? I also assumed that she's been comfortably gay for years?? Makes more sense for an ex GIRL friend to appear than this dude??

If that's the next phase of the story then I hope the dude has some chemistry with Ruby because otherwise it's just expanding the chemical free zone!

Assuming Ruby already knew she was gay but hadn't yet come out, I suspect there will be precious few chemicals flying about between them.
