It seems the rumour of the rumour being true may not be true

On Tuesday the 28th, Ola didn't know it was true.

If you're saying rumours are true how about posting a link to support that? Otherwise where are you hearing this?

Well yes, they were out. In more ways than one

Are they in or are they out?
There are many rumours about.
Are they out or are they in?
And where did this revelation begin?

The plot thickens.....

The event they attended may have been this week, but some of those quotes are rehashed from a couple of months ago. There was a thread about it at the time.

Considering the pros don't find out till June time for the next series, then I hardly think it would be announced yet that there not in next series.

technically everyone is "out" until contracts get sent out in June, the pros are only employed for one series at a time, not one of them know if they will be asked back for the next series

No, HONESTLY--this person is a p.a. and I've known them for 40yrs. But do feel free to disbelieve--I just wanted to pass on the news; I've no agenda here, just directly sourced Gossip. x

And of course Craig RH is the person who makes the decisions as to who is in and who is out isn't he?

I thought he was simply a member of the judging panel and as much a member of the "hired help" as any of the dancers are. I can't see him having much (if any) say over who is hired and who is fired - that decision is one for the producers to make..

The Jordans have a considerable fanbase (even though you wouldn't think so going by the comments on here), Ola has won the main series and at least one Christmas special, along with (I think) almost a clean sweep on last year's tour with Louis, and James has had considerable success with his past aprtners too. Both of them seem to be able to get their partners further than most expected - although james has suffered more than his fair share of "controversial" (down to judges decision in dance offs) eliminations. IMHO he was booted out by the judges on at least 3 occasions - with Gaby Logan, Cherie Lunghi and Zoe Lucker - Im sure on all 3 occasions they weren't the bottom couple.....

Aliona won one series and two tours in a row (both in landslides) and they still threw her in the bin.

Granted Monkseal, but the Jordans are pretty popular with the viewers, and seem to be favoured by the producers in that they have avoided all the previous culls.

Just because Craig's PA says they are out is not a reliable source....... He has no more influence over which dancers are on the main show than any other employee does. He DOES seem to have a say on who does the tour...but that's a separate event these days and not run by the BBC any more.

Fair enough, but the judges do have their ears to the grapevine [?] as it were, so just felt the gossip was worth passing on. x

I'm not sure how far that popularity translates though - Vincent & Flavia were popular with viewers (popular enough to get magazine covers and newspaper scandals about their love-lives and run a successful high-profile tour anyway) and yet when Vincent was stuck in a bigger pond (IAC) he got beaten in the popular vote by a minor daytime Channel 5 talkshow host and a dress-designer who hasn't been seen in public in about 15 years. No matter how big anybody is, comparatively, within Strictly, I think all of them are expendable in wider terms. Darren and Lilia were megastars (on Strictly) and yet when they left it didn't stop the ratings from skyrocketing.

As for their popularity with producers obviously I'm not in a position to say but increasingly over the last 2-3 series the relationship of the media with the Jordans seems to be constant stories about how they're about to be axed, or the producers/Craig have kept them off the tour, or Ola's about to leave to get pregnant, or Kevin/Karen are trying to bully them out. After a while it stops looking like scandal-baiting and more like something's going on, unless there's a lot of boys crying wolf.

All very true---a Dancer's Life is short and tough, really. Awww, Darren & Lilia were divine!! It must be pretty cut-throat in the 'Strictly' fold as it's such a huge showcase for them and further work, a fan-base, etc.

I like the Jordans, and even putting Ola's success aside, James has done well with his partners - especially the "BBC staffers" he has been given (Alex Jones in the semi-final !!)

However none of us know what happens backstage, apart from the tabloid "exclusives" that probably come from an agent or PR company.

The only analogy I can recall, is when Aussie soap stars started being recruited for Pantos in the UK.
IIRC (I think it was Keith Harris or maybe CRH who direct pantos) said that as The Aussies had no knowledge of Panto. they just turned up, did what they were told and never answered back or made "demands" like a lot of UK "stars" - they were a producer and Director's dream.

If the Jordans are regarded as good teachers who can get mediocre celebs further than they should, then they will be kept on.
They are well known - "Pointless" is the curse of death - Katya was a Pointless answer a few years ago (name a Strictly Pro dancer) and got the chop soon after.

I think there will be a big shake up when Bruce finally retires, and at that point I would love to see the Jordans as new judges.

If, however, ITV have decided to go for bust with their Strictly me2 abomination "Stepping Out" - and the BBC have found that the Jordans have even had a single meeting with them - then they are toast !!

However, if ITV were trying to poach Strictly stars for their Stepping Out show, then CRH would be aware of this.
He would also be well aware of the consequences from the BBC for anyone on Strictly even daring to talk to them - something his PA would be VERY involved with.

I would not be surprised to see some Strictly faces on ITV if Stepping out returns.

Anyone know if it is getting a second series??

This is true ~ andwhile there might not be any idea of who is 'in' yet, TPTB could well have a very definite idea of who they don't want next year. And while I doubt Craig has any say in it, he could well know which way the wind is blowing.

Personally (and based on nothing other than my own humble little opinion) I'd be pretty surprised to see James & Ola back next year. Whether the Jordans leaked the story or not, the 'bullying' thing tainted the Beeb's 'we're all one big happy sparkly family and everyone on the show has the greatest time of their life' shtick (even though I'm sure the truth is slightly less relentlessly snuggly,as in any situation when competitive people with a cheque to earn work together under a lot of pressure). The fact that there was such a significant influx of new pros last year might work in their favour, though.

I think in the early days, certainly with Darren and Lilia, there was a genuine feeling by the producers that they and maybe some of the other pros were becoming more well known than some of the C-lister celebrities recruited for the show. Maybe that was why they went.
Now I don't think the BBC are worried too much about who goes or stays amongst the pros. But there would never be a wholesale change.

Now the show has a momentum of its own and is the highest rated BBC programme, they'll get the best "deal" they can and if it means they can find a couple of new dancers who are capable and would accept a lot lower fee than some of the well known ones, they'll chop and change a few.
I don't subscribe to the view that all the dancers or the celebs will get the same pay, regardless of any "PR nonsense," it doesn't work like that in showbusiness.

The only say Craig has in about who is in and who is out is in his own show,, not Strictly.
