Going by the ofcom License we should have the EPG full up to LCN 65 soon.

This could be a placeholder. Discovery own Quest and Discovery have just recently fully purchased Eurosport who are looking to expand their sports rights with a bit more football.

Maybe with a decent channel number they change it to a subs channel and we have Eurosport ?

You say soon, but going by the length of time they took to get QUEST up and running, that could be some time

Can anyone remember how long Quest was "coming soon" for?

Ofcom licenses mean very little as to when/if a channel joins Freeview.

As a side note, we're already guaranteed to reach LCN 65. LCN 64 is already known - it's Bonanza Bonanza. It doesn't take a genius to guess ABC Shopping will take LCN 65.

It might be time-sharing with channel 5+24.It all on the same mux. Expect Quest+1 to be on the EPG on Tuesday like itv4+1 was on Monday.

Quest launched its placeholder on 5th January 2009 and eventually launched on 30th September 2009. Therefore, 9 almost 10 months. Thanks a516 - http://www.a516digital.com/2012/10/t...2009.html#more

I'm still interested to see on Tuesday when Channel 5+24 launches if Marketplace is going to stay or would LCN 50 become vacant too? So LCN 48 and 57 are to be filled and then as this thread has been saying LCN 65+ for ABC Shopping, Quest +1 or even BBC One +1 wherever located. There is also Yesterday +1 available as a DTT Ofcom licence.

If LCN 65 is allocated by the end of February, then 16 weeks from Wednesday 26 February would be Wednesday 11 June for the news & childrens sections to be moved. Hmmm... just in time for the World Cup in Brazil on the 12th.

Note "allocated" is when DUK assign the channel number, NOT when it comes into use. The chances are 65 is already allocated.

Why does the link in the original post mean Quest +1 is coming to Freeview? It says it's a licence for cable and satellite towards the top of the page. The channel is already on Sky and Virgin

EDIT - please ignore - just spotted the DTPS reference lower down the page.

Perhaps this time they will hold off having a launch party until after they have actually launched.

The 13th stream on Arqiva A, last used by BBC RB 302 during the London Olympics. This would probably explain why RB 302 doesn't have a 24 hour stream for the Winter Olympics and is sharing capacity on the 12th stream with Adult Party.

There is now very little spare capacity left on the main Freeview multiplexes. A 21 hour slot will be available on Arqiva A when the BBC RB 302 service ends. Arqiva B has spare capacity on 2 slots between 10pm and 8am and 5am and 8am. That's about it until BT Sport leaves the platform.

The allocation of LCN57 suggests that LCN50 has been reserved by Digital UK, as well as LCN48, otherwise why would Quest+1 not have got it? Is there a minimum time that must elapse before an LCN is reused?

I believe they're still undergoing a consultation about whether nearest neighbour rules for vacant LCNs apply to channels on the Manchester and N. Ireland muxes.

Services licensed to broadcast on Freeview, but not yet on-air.

ABC Shopping - Freeview (Local TV)
TBN

One of these channel might get LCN 50

I think it's rather quaint that, given the mess that is Freeview LCN allocation, they think anyone actually cares about such niceties. Anyway, these special case local services should have had a separate numbering range, not just been dumped in the middle of the entertainment genre.

Originally they did, in the 200-5 range

I'm sure the broadcasters care.

As has been said, they did. But why should they? Channel 8 has been used since the start for nations channels on a shared LCN basis, there's no reason to discriminate against other channels doing a similar thing.

But it's a mess! 51-53, 56, 60, 62 and maybe 48 and 50 have been blocked out for this, causing unnecessary gaps in the rest of the UK.

Is BT Sport still showing promos for the channel on Freeview?
