1st BIB You can say that again
2nd BIB - I'm thinking of adopting her, 'Ahm soooo proud of meee' for all my own achievements.... ....like when I don't burn the toast or I can remember my Amazon password or tie my own shoelaces. I'll give myself a nice pat on the back and say how proud I am of meeeeee!!! Thanks for the dances and song choices for this week, yes let's be positive, it is a veritable ballroom fest this week, bar one contemporary routine. How much content is contained in said dances is anyone's guess.

I'm still a little baffled as to how sitting on your rear end for half of the routine before colliding with your prop and almost knocking it over warrants the score that they got (I can say similar sentences about pretty much all of the remaining contestants. Maybe I'm just a cynic)
Also, what on earth happened to Meryl this week? Abby Miller called it pushing the envelope, and brilliant. Incorporating stools and chairs into dances is not new, it dates back at least a century. When Derek was in charge of a pro dance last year, he had all the pros using chairs in the routine. He didn't get an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography by thinking inside the box. |

Also, what on earth happened to Meryl this week? The Maks / Abbey comment was obvious scripted to bring drama to the show. That said Meryl was not great this week. IMO I think Charlie out shines her TBH. Maybe its because her partner is Maks and he seems to make the performances all about him. So upset Danica is gone. She tried so hard and I really loved her Disney dance and the Samba. It was fierce <333 Hope Charlie can win, he seems a great guy. Derek is already licking his lips at another trophy though Cringe at Mark's performance. Sorry but he should stick to what he is good at. Dancing. That said, despite the tacky changes from ABC I am enjoying this season

Just to add.
Happy James and Peta where in jeopardy this week. Peta's outfit was OTT for that Samba and I suspect the audience did not take well to it. Candace reaching Semi Finals PMSL <333

<333 . I think her AT last week was much better than both James' samba and Danica's salsa (though her rib surely limited her). I like Danica very much and her Disney quickstep might be my favourite dance this season, but I really didn't like the tango and didn't enjoy the samba duet/duel either. That said, I wish James had gone. He did a good job in the jive duet but his ballroom posture is awful and I'm bored of the 'are they/aren't they?' with those two.

WHO CARES!!! ![]() Nene - Girl with Attitude / Partner fights. Candace - Confidence issues. I think the Wendy Williams interview was interesting if anyone seen it. On her show she said the producers "script" things on the show. Take a look on youtube. |

Afterbuzz: Week 8 I enjoyed week 8 more than Latin Week. Nice to see some ballroom and less super-sized, kitchen-sink choreography. The opening number was fun and some nice bits of dancing, but I reckon Marky should stick to his spats .I thought Charlie and Sharna's QS was pretty darn good and the music was great. I wish he'd worn somthing more flattering and I didn't think it was really worth a perfect score (he looked a bit 'squatty' to my eyes) but they give out so many, so why not give one to Charlie? Abby Lee Thing was completely out of line saying he should slick his hair down, 'no bouncy hair in ballroom'. Gah! The audacity! Wasn't keen on the music or the concept for Danica and Val's tango but when I watched it without the sound, I could appreciate she was sharp and precise and looked really good. Unfortunately they only took hold for about 30 seconds and the rest was theatrics and posturing, so I'm a bit on the fence. Nasty shoes. I have a similar issue with Maks and Meyl's rumba, in that, while I liked what rumba she did, thought she was very expressive and acted really well, I'd have liked more actual dance content. I didn't hate the concept but suspect Maks maybe thought he was creating great art. I rather think he was disappearing up his own fundament. I really liked that Candace and Mark had a fun routine that she performed well and confidently, but I would have liked more proper foxtrot. There seems to be a theme developing . Didn't like her orthopedic looking shoes. Lots of 'orrible shoes this season.James. Oh, dear, James. Terrible posture. (Sasha said in his blog that James really nailed the posture . I think Emma really needs to talk him down!) He bores me. I hope he goes next. Well, Derek and his stool choreo got folk all worked up, didn't it?! I really liked Amy's AT and, though I could have done without the 20 seconds sitting, other couples had longer fafforamas, so I feel a bit shruggy about it. She was super sharp and precise and made some amazing shapes. If anything, I thought it was a bit clinical and lacking in character, so don't think it deserved a perfect score, but I saw more appropriate content than in many of the other routines. The duets were interesting and I quite liked them (as gimmicks go ). Loved Candace and Charlie. Each really working to their strengths. All four looking fab and I liked the story. The jive was good and in sync and again, both Amy and James were strong. I didn't enjoy Danica and Meryl's samba, but that was possibly a combination of a more difficult dance, horrid music and the two girls having to dance side-by-side rather than as partners which just emphasised a little lack of sync. Hated the wedge sneakers. I didn't like the tension in the samba rehearsal and felt as if Danica was being pushed out of the supposed family (note how Val didn't support her in the little VT when she was looking for a bit of reassurance). She might be a bit socially awkward, intense and geeky. Perhaps she's hard work to be around for hours on end, but I didn't like Maks being rude to her while surrounded by his brother and his princess, effectively isolating her . I wondered right at the beginning if Val even liked her and I'm still not convinced. She was gracious at the end though - really hope she enjoyed her experience. Not sure what to make of Maks' comments about Abby LM. Almost everyone on set seemed to hold her in contempt, but she was a guest in their house, and you should be polite to guests even if you don't like them. You have to wonder why they invited her though. Oh, yeah. For the chatter. Silly me.

from DwtSGossip:
week 9 dances - American Pop Music Icons Night Amy & Derek: Charlie & Sharna: Foxtrot and Samba James & Peta: ChaCha and Rumba Candace & Mark: Jazz and V.Waltz Meryl & Maks: Jive and V.Waltz I'm curious to know what Amy will be dancing. She clearly struggles with the ballroom dances and I'd think paso might present some of the same problems for her. She still has jazz and samba too, I think. Think Candace has good dances for her (as does James). If they're having a four couple final, the person leaving this week will have been judged on last week's showing, so these dances are a bit academic. Hmmm. (Unless they carry the scores forward?). I didn't watch the final weeks last season...anybody know the set up? |

According to the ABC press release it will be a 4 person final. This week the "dance styles including Foxtrot, Rumba, Jazz, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, Samba, Cha Cha, and Jive." must mean Amy has QS (plus jazz or samba).

. I wondered right at the beginning if Val even liked her and I'm still not convinced. She was gracious at the end though - really hope she enjoyed her experience. It was obvious they were going when the other two couples in jeopardy got better comments and marks - the judges are not about to place to eliminated couple at the top of the board in that kind of situation. I thought their Tango had a bit too much show and could have done with slightly more content. The samba with Meryl lacked bite and synchronicity. I wasn't surprise when Carrie-Ann remarked on the more contemporary nature of Meryl and Maks' Rumba. I think it would have helped had Meryl been wearing heals as it would have helped her with her hip rotation. They told the story brilliantly, though. James and Peta are strange - I think he's more than competent in Latin but his posture should be better than it is at his stage considering his potential ability. I don't think it's lack of effort considering his Latin development; maybe it's simply something he can't get his head around. I thought the Jive with Amy was superb. I loved Amy and Derek this week and I'm not usually a fan; Derek certainly knows how to choreograph a Tango and Argentine Tango! I thought it was he who made the mistake with the stool rather than Amy so I didn't mind them getting full marks. I'm glad Charlie and Sharna finally got a 10 though Abby Miller criticising his foot then giving full marks seemed slightly off. But he did a very good job with the Quickstep overall and his Latin seems to be coming on. His contemporary with Candice was very entertaining and they deserved high scores for the risk but 10? One of the transitions was very messy. I like the feel of Candice and Mark's Foxtrot but not the entire choreography; I wish there had been more original Foxtrot content. It's strange as both Mark and Val have been more traditional this season with their choreography but they both went for more of a show last Monday. Trying for the public vote as they fear they haven't got the support they need? Val would be right with that one, I guess! |

Really liked the opening number and found the song catchy.
James is definitely better at Latin he was barely in hold and posture isn't great and footwork needs work but better than previous weeks. Candice - like the choreography as it was quirky and fun therefore brought out their personalities but won't have know that was a foxtrot it wasn't told would have preferred a proper foxtrot but hey that is the same with every foxtrot this season so didnt expect better tbh Danica - liked the tango but idea needed more work and definition. When they were in tango hold it was a great tango but too short & sweet Charlie - really liked this one of my fav on the night but needed to stay in hold once they got in hold Meryl - needed to be in heels for hip action & to stop looking flat footed. Liked the story but didnt suit them would have be more suitable for Maks with some of his past partners tbh. Too contemporary needed more rumba. Amy - loved this dance but there was an obvious mistake which I think was a move that went wrong. Derek is fantastic at choreographing tangos. thought samba was a terrible choice for Danica & Meryl cha cha would have been a better choice as neither were great at samba even Maks and Val were not on time with each other. Yet again heels needed. loved the contemporary Charlie and Candice danced great together one messy transition though James and Amy's jive was fantastic best dance of the night but it was a dance that suited both of them. As for Abby I understand what Maks said, found it funny seeing Derek & Maks on the same side with Derek clapping and his almost rolled eyes with every compliment. I understand why Abby was asked to be on the show for ratings as she is going to cause issues but really do think she shouldn't have be on the show, she is a awful representation of dance teacher and there are others who would have be better on the show. And what she said about Amy & her students Kids are allowed to be kids. |

Agree with you both about Meryl needing heels in her rumba. It was probably decided for style reasons, but she broke her toe weeks ago and had some issue with her foot or toe in the dress run, so it's just possible it was for that.
I read in Derek's blog that he was supposed to tip the stool over and Amy was meant to catch it with her leg and set it right again. Seems Derek just didn't tip it hard enough . I know some don't rate Amy as a dancer (which is fine) and some folk (not here) have said some jaw droppingly nasty things about her, but I think she's done a great job overall. My only issue has been lack of ballroom (apart from a very 'small' waltz) so I'm really hoping they can make up some ground with the QS. Derek's obviously aware people want to see her travel more in a dance - hence the running blades. I'm intrigued, as always, to see how they deal with it. |

This was a terrible result!!!! They got my hopes up that Amy would finally go!!! So annoyed.
Think this season might go down as one of the worst unless Meryl can pull out the win.

The jazz dance tonight by Amy and Derek is so very polarising on social media. It seems people either loved it or hated it.

Cannot believe elimination!
Charlie is a joy to watch! I feel conned out of a Meryll/Charlie dance off. Will miss him, guess Candace is getting the Christian vote, Amy is getting the sympathy vote( deserved) James gets the hot vote and Meryl gets the vote because she is quite simply delightful to watch, that jive was the best!
I would have loved to have seen a Charlie freestyle his foxtrot was a treat! Christian vote really bugs me!!! |

Kristen Clifton @KristenClifton 12h I like @derekhough and @AmyPurdyGurl but they had a mess up and didn't deserve 10s especially when others didn't & got a lower score. #dwts Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More *Markie* @BabySpell 12h #dwts is a joke now. They keep coddling Amy and making exceptions for her that no one else gets. She does not deserve 10s Racquel Beauty @RacquelBeauty 12h OMG - this show is so rigged 10s for Amy & Derek???? She sat on the table 80% of the time! #dwts #sosad I can't watch this fake crap anymore Travis Glover @1975jetsfan4 12h Three 10s and an 9 for Amy/Derek's Jazz number. Poor Carrie Ann got booed when she gave them the nine. #dwts Expand Reply Retweet Favorite More Shannon @ShannonRCompton 12h Well I guess when she got 10s for sitting on a stool, maybe she'll get 11s for rolling around on a table. #dwts Katie @KJ041912 12h #DWTS Ummm hello, Amy & Derek spent most of that dance on the table. There was not enough dancing content in term of footwork. Not worth 10s |
