HO - Does Freddie's face ever change?

I'll admit, I don't watch Hollyoaks that often but everytime I do and Freddie is on screen, he has the exact same braindead expression.

It doesn't matter if he's happy, sad, excited, depressed, he always looks like he's trying to do this, kind of looking into the distance trying to look like he's thinking, look

No, it never changes. He always looks surprised, even if someone is asking how the weather is. To play Freddie Roscoe, you just need two things: 1)The ability to loudly breath through your teeth 2) Bugged out eyes

And don't forget, you must whisper ALL of your lines. Works for all emotions - threatening, romantic, scared, etc. :)

And pause ... where there's no need ... for a pause.

What do you expect from the worst actor in soap.

Why HO is built around this bloke is seriously beyond me.

Oh yes! Forgot the whisper and the inappropriate pause! Two essentials to play Freddie Roscoe!

To be fair, he's not the only inappropriate pauser in Hollyoaks, nor even in the Roscoes' house.

That's true. Plenty of bad acting to go around, but Freddie Roscoe and Sonny Valentine really stand out to me as the creme de la creme of bad acting.

This is what really winds me up about Freddie. He is a seriously bad actor so why have they made him so central to the show and now Sonny who could give Freddie a run for his money in the awful acting stakes has come in and walked straight to centre stage ousting Jim who was one of the actually good actors and characters in Hollyoaks

I'm finding it virtually impossible to watch nowadays with Freddie just about always on the screen, no more Jim :( Grace and Trevor reigning supreme and the awful Sonny.

I never noticed this until someone pointed it out on here a while back and now it really annoys me when he constantly does it. However I don't think he's that bad especially compared to the likes of Sonny! The actor for that guy is absolutely terrible talk about saying your lines like you're reading/memorizing from a script he's so so bad

All the comments on this thread have pretty much said what I wanted to say :D. No need for me to add anything.

I think he's equally bad as Sonny. They both seem very uncomfortable on screen. Whereas Sonny seems like he's constantly thinking of what line comes next, Freddie seems like he's constantly trying to remember to breathe.

Sonny is definitely worse. None of his scenes feel natural at all and he always has that stupid grin on his face.

I quite liked him back when he first came in, and he was around Ste and Maxine more. Then they introduced his family and he went really terrible. The limited range he had went out the window - he could do mild comedy, so why give him dark stories that actually need real acting?

I find him hilarious these days. I know we're not supposed to find him that funny, but it's his face and eyes that crack me up. The poor thing is so surprised by everything. He's like a startled puppy.

I'm still waiting for sonny to bust some moves singing "I'm walking away" we can only wish he will walk away

Girls on Twitter fancy him. I think that's basically it.

Oh and out of the cardboard cut out cockney Roscoes he's probably the one with the most personality.

It's hard to like the character too. The way he desperately stalks and follows Lindsey around like a weird puppy dog, whilst feeding her all these lies about Joe "leaving" her. I find it shamelessly disloyal and tragic that he would sell out his own brother like this over a woman. He acts like he's so tortured over Joe's "death", yet the next minute he's trying to get into Lindsey's knickers and telling her to "forget" about Joe. Guy needs to get his priorities straight. His brother is supposedly dead and all he can think about is shagging his fiancee. Like I said, it's hard to like the character. The bad acting just makes it worse.

One thing's for sure - Joe needs to hand Freddie a good beating when he inevitably returns from the dead.

Agree. Cant understand why he is in most episodes. His character is so one-note and utterly unlikeable. He has stolen money from Tony, helped get rid of a body, ran over someone and kept quiet about the death of his brother whilst lusting after the woman who is pregnant by his dead brother and continued to cover up the brother's death with lies and stealing. Are we meant to have any real sympathy for this repellent character?
All this Gangster nonsense is ruining the show for me at the moment.
