I need inspiration as I have a freezer full of bread for toasting, but I'm in a bit if a rut! My toddler and I share breakfast so I would like something relatively easy and low in salt

Pate and apple sauce goes down nicely!

Mushrooms are very nice or I like tinned tomatoes on toast but that seems to be just me that likes them

Cheese and onion or cheese and spread the toast with brown sauce.

Eggy bread is lovely too.

All of the above are right up my street as well.

What about poached egg on toast, scrambled egg on toast.
You can also use older bread up by turning it into breadcrumbs and using it as a topping on other things you cook.

Is it nice?

I'll avoid anything fishy as it's difficult to shake the smell for the rest of the day.

Has to be pate.
I do like strawberry jam but I really have to fancy it.
Can't beat good old cheese on toast too.

There's a book out now that I really want to buy called 'Things on Toast'.

I love toast. If i'm in a savoury mood then cheese and chutney, but if i'm in a sweet mood then peanut butter and jam.

Garlic mayonnaise with sliced cucumber on top, followed by extra mature cheddar, then grilled. Orgasmic.

Molten brie and blackberry jam.... o my god. I know it sounds weird but it's lush.

Also like Welsh rarebit topping which is good strong cheese grated with a little mustard and a dash of worcestershire sauce.

With a toddler soft boiled egges and toast slices seem in order, try him or her with a bit of Marmite on the toast, introduce new flavours at an early age etc (only a smidgen if your worried about the salt).

I prefer just buttered toast and a good jam or marmalade.

Raspberry jam is good on toast, it's so much nicer than strawberry.

If food brings back memories, I remember clearly stopping at a cafe out in the middle of nowhere, Nevada desert back @1995 and having toast with chili scrambled eggs and crisp bacon...stunning. The lady serving said "far to go" I said "about two hundred miles" and she replied, "best make yours with six eggs and extra bacon then" lol

So another topping for your toast, scrambled eggs and a good dash of hot sauce added.

I've never had raspberry jam before.

Pate for the toddler? I imagine that's very high in salt and generally not very healthy for a young child.

Grilled tomatoes with fresh oregano is nice, or make a rarebit style topping (minus the beer)
