It is indeed - confirmation perhaps that it's run its course - or more to the point T&D have run theirs.

T&D truly shouldn't have bothered this year.
I don't know if they are miffed because the series is nearly over
but they seem to offer nothing in interviews or in the routines.
I think a reboot would work but. keep some of the pro's can replace the rest/ T&D presenters/panel and make the location bigger so they have more Ice

I think it proves a complete lack of interest.

Agreed, viewing figures have halved since some of the earlier series, with it being the last series there's no "who would you bring back, changes for next year, which celebs would you like to see next year" threads. T&D don't really seem too interested either.

Although I agree that less posts on this forum may well stem from a lack of interest, I have also noticed that the whole of the Digital Spy forums are quieter lately, not just Dancing on Ice.
I think it's partly to do with the new format.

T&D chose to leave, and then ITV used that as an excuse to axe the show altogether but in reality it's just run it's course. It we only ever a cheap bargain bin version of Strictly to begin with, ITV never expected to to be a hit. The success it had in the first series was a complete shock to them as they'd expected it to flop badly.

The other test is views. I have a recent news update post, on one contestant from 2008, in a thread in the Andrew Lloyd Webber cellar of reality TV, thats just past 2250 recorded views - although only a couple of people drop in for comments a year. Here the visit counts is lower than that for nearly every thread.

Its odd too because each of the winners ought to have some fans, and some of the others came with big fanbases. And this series, even with its faults, has already produced more top routines by a factor of three at least, than most series did.

I haven't been able to get interested.

Most of the contestants they picked were ones I didn't want to see again.
It was bad enough having Ray, Hayley or Kyran even once.

Whether you like them as people or not how on earth could you have an all star series without three of the most popular previous winners? One of them the best ever celebrity skater too in the opinion of all involved with the show. Who do you imagine should be there instead of them?

It will be if Karen has anything to do with it! Karen and Hayley seem very attached to each other., most odd!! But they do have very similar characters , both like their own way and woe betide anyone who upsets them . Just an observation but both appear to be quite unpleasant ladies.

I was really looking forward to this All Stars series, but I got totally put off it by the Jorgie business. I thought Philip Schofield handled that dreadfully and I could see if she got through week on week it'd be all they talked about. My interest level went through the floor because it was so transparent (worse than the Sam/Brianne faux-mance for me), so now I tend to watch on iPlayer and skim through Schofield and VTs to the skating.

I also saw Karen being on the panel as a cheap shot. I'm torn between it being for the drama with Jason, and the producers thought that "It's the last series so she can't break anything and affect future ratings". The latter isn't a fair assumption, I know, because I do know she knows her stuff. I just don't like her.

So, if I did want to create a thread, it'd mostly be about "Karen! Shut up!" or "Schofield! Shut up!"

I'm not imagining any particular alternative, just saying I don't want to watch most of the ones they've picked.

If they can't have an "all stars" without them, for some reason, then they can't have an "all stars" I can be enthusiastic about watching.

Jorgie was one of the few I did want to watch, but she was quickly eliminated, while the likes of Hayley and Ray look like they'll be there 'till the end.

...

Jason is another problem. I don't want to hear him at all.

They are a lot quieter, but I can't decide if it's because people aren't interested in DOI any more or it's a case of 'Oh my eyes' thanks to the blinding white forum. Is it still blinding white?
