Series 2 felt strange because david tennant fit so well it felt like he had been the doctor for ages, rather than it being his first series. I didn't get the same feeling with smith at first, but feel like I will get that feeling again with capaldi, as he just seem's to suit, and I tend to think life long fan's put more into it, because it's more than just a job to them, like tennant did.”
I think the problem with series 5 was that everything was new- new doctor, new companion, new TARDIS plus all the actors were relatively unknown. With series 8, little is changing apart from a new doctor, who is a well-established actor anyway, therefore I feel there is little need to assure anyone.
