Last round we lost JJ (justj) & Katie ahead of today's Semi-Final. Now only 4 remain and they are competing for a place in the GRAND FINAL on Friday

As it is the Semi-Final, each couple will take on 2 routines each. They have been asked to choose one of their fellow semi-finalists performances from the series and improve on the outfits to try and score better than their opponent.

Their second routine is exactly the same, however, they were this time asked to improve on one of the contestants' routines from those who have already been eliminated from the competition

Opening the show today is Rhian (RhiBi) & Daniel Whiston

Song: 'Hole In My Soul' by Aerosmith (as skated to by Mitch)

Male Outfit: The male will be wearing a orange top with a red line going diagonally down it, he will be wearing black trousers like usual, his skates will be black, he will have his hair spiked up.

Female Outfit: The female will have her hair in a ponytail, she will be wearing a red dress which reaches skirt length, her skates will be decorated with diamonds and will be blue.

For this performance, I would dress the male in black trousers with black skates. The top would be a vibrant purples blue colour. It would have a V neck and the right sleeve and should would have a black and silver snakeskin print. This print would follow down onto the side of the trouser legs in a silver and grey colour. The female skater would have black hot pants on, with a design matching that seen on the males trousers. Her top would be of the same vibrant purplish/blue colour as the male with a V neck back and front, the top would have long sleeves, and again the black/siler snakeskin design across one arm and shoulder. Her skates would be the same colour her top with the same black design through it. Her hair would be quite wild looking, back combing it to give that wild effect! Her eye makeup would be dark and rather heavy to continue the rock look to the outfit.

Skating for a place in the final next is Niall (_NiallDEE_) & Brianne Declourt ...........

Song: 'Let Her Go' - Passenger (as skated to by Rhian)

Outfits: I thought this was a great song choice, however it was chosen when we were only required to send in colour schemes instead of whole outfits so I thought I could give more detail and a concept to the dance. The outfits in this routine will work symbolically, the song is about heartbreak so the outfits will reflect that. The female's outfit will have a mystical feel to it - the material of her dress will be a semi see through lace coloured by pastel green, using sequins and small intricate designs to cover up her modesty. Her tights will also be made out of a see through lace, but will be covered in unobstrusive sparkles and go over her skating boots. She will be wearing intense white make up on her face to make it appear pale, and be wearing large false eyelashes with crystals. The point of the outfit will be to make her appear ethereal, otherworldly and almost spirit like. This will symbolise the fact that the male has lost her as she no longer appears as a real human being and moreso as a spirit that can only exist in his mind. The routine will be based around the elusive nature of the women with the man attempting to catch the woman but not being successful, and I think this is reflective in her outfit. The males outfit will be a tuxedo to symbolise the perfect romance that he desires, however it the tuxedo will appear shabby and not up to standards to symbolise that this perfect romance is gone. The black trousers will be role up to his knees and include a few rips, whilst the top button of the shirt will be unbuttoned and the bowtie undone. There will also be a wilting rose on the left side of the tuxedo with many of the petals omitted. This will draw attention to the poignancy of the breakdown of the relationship - the tuxedo symbolises the romantic ideals that he wants but the shabbiness of it reflects how that romantic ideal is gone and he no longer has it due to the breakdown of his relationship.

Song: 'He's The Greatest Dancer' - Sister Sledge (as skated to by Mitch)

Male Outfit: The male is wearing a bright orange shirt, which is long-sleeved and tucked into a pair of black trousers. These trousers are decorated with several sequins, coloured orange to reflect the bright, somewhat cheesy feel of the routine. The shirt itself is covered with sequins as well, which are gold and silver to accompany the disco-esque music. Over the top of this is a jacket, similar to what John Travolta wears in Saturday Night Fever. This is coloured a bright orange, but has a black collar and two black stripes travelling down the edges of the jacket (basically where the black parts are in a typical disco jacket). These black portions are decorated with gold and silver sequins – they are randomly scattered on the collar, but are patterned in the shape of several small disco balls down the edges, to give another nod to the old-school feel of the routine. His skates are two-tone shoes, coloured orange and black to carry through the colour scheme, and his hair is spiked up to give the male a rather common look from the era.

Female Outfit: The female is wearing a bright orange dress, to match what the male is wearing. The bodice of the dress is decorated with the gold and silver sequins found on the male’s outfit, but also has some pink sequins added too, simply for a contrast between the two costumes. The sleeves are loose and rather thick, coloured orange but decorated with only pink sequins this time, while the dress itself also has a plunging neckline and a low-cut back, which travels down to just above the waist to show the care-free, somewhat sexy feel of dance in general. The skirt part is also a sunset orange, and travels down to just under the knees. There are some (barely noticeable) ruffles there, to further allude to the time when disco was popular. Her skates are designed as dancing boots, covered entirely in gold-and-silver sequins, and her hair has been curled and left to hang loose, with a silver glitterball-shaped hair clip added for decoration.

I believe I have improved Mitch's outfits because, while his costumes were good, I feel like mine capture the disco-esque style of the song a little better, and have a little more detail added to them, too.

And now we move onto our 4th semi-finalist, Mitch (pothuthic) & Maria Filipov ............

Song: 'Unbreak My Heart' by Toni Braxton (as skated to by Niall)

Original Male Outfit: He will be wearing a traditional black and white tuxedo with a red rose attached to the left side, to give the dance a kind of deep romantic and glamorous feel to make the subsequent heartbreak of the song feel even sadder.

New male outfit: I will be wearing a simple dark purple top with no sleeves like on the show, it will have a red stripe in the middle going sidewards, I will be wearing black trousers with a simple purple thin stripe going down it, my skates will be dark purple fitting with the rest of the outfit.

Female outfit (I have added one): She will be wearing a dark purple*dress going down to skirt length, she will have smudged mascara underneath her eye to signify that she has been crying, she will be wearing red skates, her hair will be let down.

I have improved this routine by replacing the tuxedo (which I don't think fitted in with the song) with different costumes, I feel the dark purple colour fits in with the song and demonstrates a dark but love filled song.

They have all performed an improved routine from one of their fellow semi-finalists. But how will they fair skating an improved routine from one of the past contestants?

First to take on the challenge is Rhian (RhiBi) & Daniel Whiton ...........

Song: 'How Do I Live' by LeAnn Rimes (as skated to by JJ)

Female Outfit:
I have choose they lovely simple white dress. I feel that this is the right type of dress from the emotional song. The light material will move lovely when she moves around the rink. To finish off the outfit she will have white skates with small crystals on them)

For this performance I would dress the female skater in a beautiful, flowing pale pink dress. The dress would have long sleeves, , a round neck with a deep back. The back would have a skin coloured fabric that would be encrusted in sequins and crystals. These would also be scattered around the front of the dress. Her boots would be of the same pale pink colour. Her hair would be in the style of a fishtail plait, draped over one shoulder, allowing the decorative back to be seen.

Male Outfit:
I would dress the male skater in black trousers, with black boots, and the same pale pink colour for the top. The sleeves would be short and again sequins and crystals randomly dotted around the top.

Next to take to the ice is Niall (_NiallDEE_) & Brianne Delcourt) ............

Song: 'Livin La Vida Loca' - Ricky Martin (as skated to by JJ)

Outfits: I think this was a very good song choice, however obviously there wasn't much detail put into the outfits for the original dance so I tried to improve on that. The outfits will have a latin style/theme to fit with the song itself. The top half of the female's outfit will be made out of a sparkly, red material that will cut off at the sleeves. The bottom half of the top half will also be partly cut off, revealing half the flesh of the female's belly. The bottom half will be reminiscent of a flamenco dress bottom half, however slightly less flamboyant to enable easy moving on the ice - and each layer will be colour differently (vibrant shades of Red, Pink, Yellow, Green and Blue) instead of just black and red. This will add more colour to the outfit which fits in well with the lively and energetic nature of the song, and the spanish influences of the outfit also fit in well with the style of the song. The shirt that the male is wearing will be reminiscent of a male salsa outfit. It will be a deep red, wide open long sleeved shirt. It will also be made slightly more flamboyant than this, with a 3D lace design in place of where the buttons usually are, sticking out the shirt and adding an extra dimension to it. There will also be a few sequins place around the shirt, and the male will be wearing black trousers as well as this. Both the male and female will be wearing deep red skates.

Song: 'How Do I Live' - LeAnn Rimes (as skated to by JJ)

Male Outfit: The male is wearing an ocean blue vest, as the colour blue typically depicts sadness and sorrow. This is tucked into a pair of plain black trousers, which are decorated with several silver sequins, to show the light-and-shade of the routine. Over the top of the vest is an open white shirt, which is short-sleeved to represent an element of vulnerability to the male’s character (seeing as the male feels unsure and exposed about himself), and is also decorated with several blue sequins over the back in a teardrop shape, to show the emotion of the routine – this shirt is removed at the end of the routine, to show the male has finally found himself again and feels free for the first time. The idea of a light shirt over a dark vest also shows the male’s personality, as he seems fine on the outside but, deep down, is uncertain and distressed. His skates are coloured an ocean blue to match the rest of the routine, and his hair has been left at its normal style.

Female Outfit: The female is wearing an ocean blue dress, to match the male’s outfit. The bodice is covered in plain white sequins, which are individually shaped as tear drops, continuing the emotional theme of the routine. The dress has two nude straps, and a fairly high-cut back which travels down to around the middle of the back to represent the female is still upset but is more confident than the male and is trying to help him through his difficult experience. The skirt part of the dress is made from a soft, wafting material and is coloured a mixture of ocean blue and silver, the silver simply to provide some contrast in the costume. It is cut in a diamond shape (so the longest portion is in the centre, and travels down to just under the knees, while the shortest parts are the edges around the hips, which travel up to just under the hips). Her skates are an ocean blue, and her hair has been straightened and clipped up in two buns, both of which are held in place with an ocean blue rose, to represent the somewhat romantic feel of the routine.

I believe I have improved JJ's outfits because, while his costumes were good, I feel I have added more to the atmosphere of the routine and increased the emotion that the song requires.

Original outfit: clown outfits

New male outfit: The male will be wearing black trousers and a white plain shirt, I will be wearing a jacket with tails as part to make this routine have a retro sort of theme,*
the skates will be designed to look like black smart shoes

New female outfit: my female will be wearing a white dress which goes down to skirt length, it goes diagonally from the left bottom to the right thigh like demonstrated on the show, her skates will be white, her hair will be straightened.

I have improved this routine by changing a sabotaged routine into a routine with some good costumes and given it a traditional theme, I feel is fits in as the song is such a beautiful song.
