So was Migg genuinely a homeless man, or was he actually some sort of social worker assigned to Tom to help him deal with his wife's death? i.e. was Tom hallucinating Migg being homeless etc, and was he always the clean-cut outreach worker but, assigned to Tom?
OR
Was Migg really a homeless man who happened to take over Tom's life at that moment, not knowing that Tom was also suffering due to having lost his wife?
I think Steve's reaction ("What have you done?" to Tom rather than "Who's he"?) makes the 1st explanation more accurate IMO, but that doesn't explain Migg stealing his post & deleting Tom's messages, unless that too was a figment of Tom's imagination (In which case you'd think Migg (as the support worker) would have realised that his hallucinations were that major, and moved him out of his flat into something more... controlled)
Also, Migg says that he was with Charles Bukowski in New York while he was writing his last novel. IRL, he was writing that while he was ill with Leukemia. Migg says Charles told him stories, perhaps the sort of stories that a patnient might tell a support worker or counsellor perhaps?
