Outstanding episode.
Five minutes in I was convinced Migg was all in his imagination. The end comes and they make you think they both were. At that point it's awesome, great ending. And then they just take the twist that bit further and reveal Migg was actually the real one all along.
The writing is seriously phenomenal.

Absolutely brilliant. Wasn't really a fan of the second episode, but the first and especially this one were seriously outstanding. The twist... the twist! Great writing, once again.

It was very clever but I can't say that I enjoyed it. Migg annoyed me in much the same way as Lee's dad in Not Going Out. I can never watch any episode that he's in.

So was Migg genuinely a homeless man, or was he actually some sort of social worker assigned to Tom to help him deal with his wife's death? i.e. was Tom hallucinating Migg being homeless etc, and was he always the clean-cut outreach worker but, assigned to Tom?

Also, Migg says that he was with Charles Bukowski in New York while he was writing his last novel. IRL, he was writing that while he was ill with Leukemia. Migg says Charles told him stories, perhaps the sort of stories that a patnient might tell a support worker or counsellor perhaps?
I didn't understand the time frame. Did he kill the tramp at the beginning of his hallucination in which case he would be all decomposed and smelly. Ig he killed him just before Steve got there then why would you hallucinate about someone you don't know. Whatever in confused. There needed a bit more explanation for my liking. I do y like wondering.

But I thought Migg was just a tramp. No more, no less. And Tom was foolish enough to let him into his flat in the first place.
I don't mean to be nasty but he would never have got across my doorstep! Returned wallet or not.

Migg wasn't a hallucination. He was actually in Tom's life because he let him into it.
He had been there for some time while Tom's depression got worse. Then Tom killed him.
That was all I saw. I didn't read anything more into it.
That was really brilliant written! Honest I thought all times that the tramp was just his imagination and he taken over him at end when Tom's new look at end of programme, oh I was totally wrong! That was so dark!
Roald Dahl can rest easy. His "Tales of the Unexpected" were far better than this.

I think it's still as dark as previous work, just in a very different way. It could be called 'Steve and Reece: All Grown Up' as I think that's exactly what it is a reflection of.

That episode was amazing. Really didn't see any of that coming.
My only grumble was they nicked a sketch from Ricky Gervais with giving the tramp money. Naughty. But totally loving these gems.

I think Migg was exactly what he appeared to be, a homeless guy who took advantage of a severely mentally ill guy he stumbled across by happenstance.
Unfortunately for Migg, Tom's hallucinations of Gerri proved to be stronger than reality. Alternatively Tom recognised what was happening on a subconscious level and his subconscious performed an act of self preservation by creating further hallucinations of Gerri to spur Tom into action against Migg.
Either way pretty chilling stuff and very watchable TV.
I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode. After watching I felt it was my favourite of the three.
But...it just occurred to me while in this thread that I think there was a lapse in the writing in one particular scene. It looks like a serious plothole to me.
The scene I'm talking about is in the bathroom. Why would Miggs be hiding behind the bathroom door if the partner of Reece Shearsmith's character isn't even real?
Why would he be hiding behind that door?
That part to me looks like extremely sloppy writing.

I don't think that's a given. I think they were hit and miss. If you watch some of them now they don't look so good.
There was one episode where a character played by Timothy West turns into a bee. I watched it again about a year ago and it was bloody awful. Seriously stupid. If that was pitched today the writer would be laughed out of the office.
However I understand that Roald Dahl didn't write for later series. Is this correct?
