Good episode yesterday, the manager was a loony from the moment he attacked a staff member, and Horrocks, with the constant changing of cat pics on her desk and erratic behaviour was another suspect/red herring. Great writing. Nice twist at the end.

It was okay.
I felt cheated that the voice of Chloe on the phone wasn't Reece Shearsmith's voice he put on at the end. For that reason I don't think the twist was as clever as it made itself out to be and was a bit of a cheap trick if of course most people aren't going to guess that it was Shearsmith if it wasn't even the same voice as Chloe's.

Same here. It was too blatant and also the final Chloe voice wasn't the same so it was a bit of a let down.
I didn't even clock Jane Horrocks until the credits.

It must be hard to follow ep2. I wonder if they knew how excellent it was after filming it?
Maybe they should have kept it back for the series finale. Each episode could then build up to a show stopping finish.

Well I only just got round watching the latest episode and I thought it was superb. Maybe not quite as good as The 12 Days of Christine but still excellent.

Another enthralling episode, second only to The 12 Days of Christine so far this series for me.

BIB: I put it down to a combination of George using some kind of voice modulator thingumajig™ to manipulate his voice, and Andy (ie us, the viewers) hearing a voice unconnected to George because he wouldn't expect his boss to be pranking him.

Enjoyed that episode, wickedly funny.

Brilliant episode again and never saw the ending coming.

Oh go on, stick it in spoiler tags ~ I'm intrigued

I am just re-watching this and agree. It was a woman's voice to begin with? Unless there was something we were missing

Please put in spoiler and explain for me

Can't seem to do spoiler tags on mobile, so just waited a few days... Basically I think they were making you focus on the right hand side of the screen (with the CCTV) so, for many, the ending "shot" would have been a big surprise.
I certainly experienced that, the gun seemed to appear out of nowhere, on rewatching the end the guy actually slowly came into the scene.

The reason it's a man's voice at the end is because it's a recording of his voice live before it has been digitally modulated to sound like a suicidal teen with bad taste in music.

I thought the last episode worked on so many levels - especially if you know anyone who has ever worked as a helpline volunteer.

Doesn't that mean playing a joke on someone? This was hardly a joke.

I guess it also implied that he'd virtually given up making any effort with the subterfuge - the persona had instead become a manifestation of his insanity

Yes I sat there open mouthed too. It was a marvellous piece of television.

Thank you. Ok I can understand that.

I will watch again and concentrate on the right hand side as I was watching more on the character but then I do have to watch some shows a few times as I seem to miss loads the 1st time round.

The ending did leave me as I never saw that coming but how was he still talking on the phone when he got out of the chair?

Having watched Cold Comfort 3 times now, each time it gets even more clever, like someone said, if you know (which people wouldn't have first time around), what to look out for.

The split screen effect worked very well and only added to the suspense because they clearly wanted the viewer to look elsewhere than at Andy especially being centre of the screen, they knew full well most people wouldn't have got the apparent twist straight away.

Spoiler
All the clues are now there, George taking his mobile out of pocket in his office, calling Andy as "Chloe" and then hanging up the call and placing it on the desk, and, even more clever, and when he is walking towards the door, he calls the new recruit sat with Andy, just as he disappears into the darkness, though I completely missed on second watch the man with the gun sat behind Andy the whole time at the end and the way he turned to shoot him before the credits .
.

Just when I thought I had a favourite episode of this series, another one comes along and quickly takes it place.

I really hope they get a third series.

Yet another great one. One of the funniest ones I thought.

I also liked how the twist worked differently from normal.

These guys are fantastic!

Not sure about tonight's, I think it rates close to the balloon one from the last series for me. Next weeks looks interesting though!

Really? Oh well we all like different things.

The balloon was for me the only notably weaker one last time but so far this series the only
one I wasn't as keen on was the witch trial episode.

I have enjoyed all of them but those less so. I was laughing with this one from the start.
