Stop paying attention to the overnight figures that DS report - they're a complete irrelevance in the modern age, particularly for the BBC.

These are final consolidated figures so far -
1.69m
1.69m
1.41m
1.46m

And using the new 28 day figures the first episode has actually reached 1.94m. It'll be very interesting next week to see what the 28 day figure for The 12 Days of Christine is - very few programmes get positive word of mouth like that episode did.

If it was going to get cancelled due to bad ratings, it was a year ago. As it is, the ratings are way up and it's started to attract critical and public acclaim. If Pemberton and Shearsmith are still willing, BBC Two would be mad not to recommission it.

What kept me more interested than anything was trying to work out where I'd seen the two film crew girls before. I think Gemma was in a one-off comedy I recorded called The Vodka Diaries, but I haven't checked yet.

I didn't think the ending was predictable at all

I think it should be 45 minutes personally. Especially last nights episode that was almost over before it began.
I personally am finding Reece Shearsmith's characters a bit annoying. He appears to have 3 or 4 characters that he does well and then reuses them over and over. The Doctor in the first episode was played the same way as the show host in the last one. I watched him in Car Share and I thought this is the same character Reece does all the time.
On the other hand Steve Pemberton is very good at being different characters. Reece SHearsmith seems like the younger brother of a family and he's only involved because their mum says they should leave him out.

Now the series is over I'd rate the episodes thusly [with the added condition that I was never less than thoroughly entertained by them all] :

1st: The 12 Days Of Christine
2nd: Cold Comfort
Joint 3rd: La Couchette / Nana's Party
4th: Seance Time
5th: The Trial Of Elizabeth Gadge

Gadge was really only spoiled for me by it's unnecessary second twist, which was a shame as otherwise it was very well-presented, and obviously lovingly crafted.

Roll on Series 3!”

I think I would pretty much place them in the same order.

I enjoyed it but was not quite so keen on last night's episode compared to some others.
Part of the reason was that I did find it predictable. As soon as the boy was mentioned I
knew what would happen. Also my OH said very early on that the blue guy would cop it.

I don't think the twist is the main point though. It was funny and another slice of great
creativity. I very much hope there is another series. Superb show!

Strange perception of him.

He writes the show and comes up with ideas and spends time putting the script together, without him the show wouldn't be what it is. I don't think it's anything at all like that, it would be strange if he didn't include himself in and was left out of his own work.

He's given plenty of good roles to great actors in the show and let them take centre stage in episodes over him as well, if anything he comes across as modest & a team player.

not clueless he clearly said in an interview that when he met the TLOG team at uni they thought he was inexperienced. The other actors in LOG have got better Reece has got worse and more annoying. It often spoils the show for me is all. if you like him fair enough, but my personal opi ion is I find him annoying an f feel maybe he should just do the writing.

I thought the comedy was rather forced. All of these modern sketch-like comedy shows are.

One of the film crew girls was Alice Lowe, who was in 'Garth Merenghi's Dark Place', which a previous poster mentioned, and which was on TV a long time ago. She was more recently in the comedy/Horror film 'Sightseers' which she also co-wrote, and that was directed by Ben Wheatley.

I think he's been patchy in this. In one or two episodes |I think he's been quite good. It's just that in other episodes he doesn't convince me. Usually because he puts on a voice which sounds like an exaggerated character in a comedy sketch show. I think he plays irritated snobby characters with a nasty streak really well.
Having said that in other things I've seen Reece Shearsmith in he has put in stellar performances. One was in 'A Field in England', he was just brilliant in that, and he was also great the other year when he played a pyschpath in a TV drama.

But I agree with you that in this Steve Pemberton has been the better actor. In my opinion of course.

For some reason I thought that this last episode was going to be an hour special. I don't know why, but I guess that I must have got it mixed up with the opening episode of W1A.
So when it finished it finished rather abruptly for me because I thought it was going to be on for longer. As another poster said maybe this should have been about 45 minutes.

Again, I thought it was okay. They seem to handle creepy atmospherics well, so I found it disappointing that they used one or two jump-scares.
It was well produced, good setup, and I was enjoying the story. Just that the ending wasn't that surprising or interesting. At least I think it was better than that other more horror oriented episode from the last series with the mutant boy in the bedroom of the old house with the girl investigating. Which seemed to finish in a reasonably similar manner to this episode.

Loved Dark Place. Such a shame it didn't take off. Also loved Sightseers. She has good taste
for comedy and was excellent in both of those.

I really enjoyed the final episode, some have been better than other of course, they've all been really good though.

Dark Place was brilliant. I bought it on DVD and it came in a twin pack with a spin off called Man to Man with Dean Learner, I'd never heard of Man to Man but it's great.

Reese Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton have put a commentary for The 12 Days of Christine on Soundcloud for fans of that particular episode:

Thank you Kel for posting the link to the commentary. Very interesting to get the background. There was something different with every episode and have really enjoyed watching them all. Hope the bbc give us another series

I remember that was shown a bit after dark place had already faded away and it was alright.
I seem to remember there was a lot of the focus had switched to Richard Ayoade who
was a rising star at that point.

Mostly I remember wishing it was a new series of Garth Marenghi though. That show was great.

That's how he was what 20 or more years ago. He's not that person anymore, Reece has continuously worked as a performer since then so can't be inexperienced in 2015 because he's had loads of experience in his career.

You can find his performance annoying though I think personally that's to be expected as plays unlikeable, nasty pricks quite a lot of the time. If he wasn't acting, the role would go to someone who was just the same as the character he would have played, so you'd probably find that character annoying too.

Totally wasted on BBC, should be on Channel 4 where it will be treated with the respect it deserves.

Shearsmith and Pemberton seem very loyal to the BBC. I guess they gave them their break and do keep commissioning their work but in my opinion they don't treat their shows with the respect they deserve. They moved the final episodes of Physcoville and now Inside No. 9 around in the schedules, usually a tactic to shake off viewers, don't promote them as heavily as other shows and seem slow or reluctant at re-commissioning.
