The entire point of it was that it was funny because it was so horrible.

It was a fictional drama/comedy. Get over it.

Someone called Demonic Rodent complaining about animal cruelty? Yep, that sounds totally legit...

The dog against the window was the funniest part, still giggling now when I think about it.

The entire episode was a work of genius. Their ability to maintain the highest quality whatever they do is remarkable*

*Benidorm aside

Lol at the 'poor thing' - a prop of a dog. Are you also concerned that people will think its acceptable and funny to drop a suitcase on someone's head from a great height?

Do you seriously believe that because we've watched a dog being killed on a TV programme that we will now find it acceptable to do this in real life?

I think you need to credit to wider populus with a little more intelligence than that.

....or blow someone's brains out from almost point blank range?

I'm not sure that you can speak for other people.

I thought it unacceptable and outrageous and therefore very funny.

There's a certain ironic humour that's derived from doing something that is just so wrong.

That's why it's funny..not because its being touted as acceptable but because it so obviously isn't.

I actually think the episodes of benidorm Steve wrote were the best of that series.

^ This. The whole point was that it was so grotesquely OTT, and that's from where the humour was derived.

What was in the frame was kitchen roll which we clearly saw Reece putting in there to hide the fact he had removed the real one.

I suspect you weren't really watching this
. Some people nowadays find it very difficult to just sit and watch the tv.

People talk through programmes, text, browse the net, comment on here, just basically don't pay attention. Then they miss something vital and wonder what the hell is going on!”

My thoughts exactly!!!

Can I just point out that the burglars did not kill the dog deliberately? Burglar Pemberton was trying to throw the yappy dog out into the garden but did so a split second after Burglat Shearsmith has shut the window. It was a beautifully timed, and therefore hilarious, piece of visual comedy.

The dog against the closed window was a flip of the gag where a ball is thrown through an open window for the dog to chase, forgetting the window was several floors up. Some ad I seem to recall?

The best timed gags I have seen in a long time, very funny (and tense) from start to finish.

And the ad ends with a shot of the dog safe and well to avoid any complaints from the over-sensitive.

I may be wrong but it rings a bell that they had to add a bit on showing the dog being safe after complaints from the humorously challenged.

What gets my goat* is not so much a few naive people complaining but that companies actually respond to their whinging. A few thousand, yes. A few, no.

*no goats were harmed when thinking these thoughts or in the typing of this post.

I know recently an insurance advert that started with a comment about a missing cat needed to add that the cat was ok at the end for the same reason

The things that made me laugh out loud was the big dog coming in out the garden and the first moment when the lights came on in the garden.

Agreed.

I watch TV with people who do "other stuff" during shows. It's not uncommon for me to have to point out something that they miss. A split second is all it takes to miss a glance between characters for instance.

So glad this is getting a second series. I was hoping for a third season of psychoville but the BBC decided not to recommission it.

It's a real concern that some buffoon(s) at the BBC didn't recommission what was a fantastic series, but bravo for not missing this one. Already have the feeling this will go down as a bona fide classic series.

I'm amazed the BBC have recommissioned this as Shearsmith and Pemberton is an all male writing team and therefore blatantly sexist. Danny Cohen's maybe insisted that the comic genius Miranda Hart's to join them in creating the new series.
