Did anyone else see Kyran Bracken on The Wright Stuff this morning?

The subject was being over-competitive. Unsurprisingly, he is very competitive, but insists people should only be competitive in a manner that is fair. Equally unsurprising, the talk went round to DOI & he had a real dig about Bonnie, and reckoned she went out of her way to make sure she won on the tour they did together. So much for her talk about not being on the show to compete!!

I saw that but would have liked to hear Bonnie's side. Possibly six of one and half-a-dozen of the other.

He was very much on the defensive and trying to deflect attention away from his apparent 'overcompetitiveness' towards Sam last week. He waffled a bit about that but didn't actually deny it.

Must admit, I saw a side to him I didn't like, especially in his digs at Bonnie- accusing her of deliberately ingratiating herself with the guest judges on the tour....as though all of them would have fallen for it! Maybe I'm biased because I like Bonnie but it seemed low, especially as he was using it to deflect away from his own competitiveness. Actually, I retract my earlier comment, having thought about it more. Bonnie may not have been completely transparent about her own competitiveness but is there any evidence that she took low blows at others in order to get ahead? It doesn't seem to be in her nature.

I don't understand why he's so unhappy about how he comes across as a competitor.

Is it really that big of a deal? Beth, Hayley, Ray and Suzanne have all admitted wanting to win, whilst Sam's shown his disappointment at being in the bottom two.

It's a competition, they're there to compete. Of course all the previous winners want to win it again. There's nothing wrong with it and I don't know why we shy away from it in this country.

I find it a bit pathetic that he was so defensive over it.

I think it's the difference between healthy competitiveness and overcompetitiveness, with a suggestion of ruthlessness or even underhandedness.

So much for Kyran not being over competitive; low blow Kyran - did himself no favours.

I think Bonnie being competitive /wanting to win on the tour dosnt automatically mean she was being less than honest saying she had come on this series as a celebration, not to try and win.
That comment from Kyran sounds very much like sour grapes - that he lost to anyone let alone a woman so much older than him! Perhaps she was just enjoying herself on the tour and the judges found that more entertaining than whatever Kyran was doing?!
I am not very keen on him - I think he gets so carried away he's a bit careless with his partner sometimes. I've no desire to see her get hurt in his attempt to 'show off'.

Could have shot himself in the foot with his appearance on TWS. Nobody likes a sore loser.

Coming from the world of comepetitive dancing, I hate to have to say it, but yes, judges can be influenced and "fallen for it". Not ALL judges, I hasten to add, some are as honest as the day is long, but there are some ............

I agree absolutely, nobody likes a sore loser. Trouble is, I don't think many people like winners either.... give 'em the underdog everyday!

Absolutely. What's in the past should be left there, and I don't see what Kyran digging up some silly grudge from years ago will achieve - its not even as though Bonnie is a threat to his place in the competition as she has already gone! Further evidence to support my belief that Mr Bracken is a bit of a tool!

I've always thought he was an arrogant arse so I'm not surprised to hear these comments. Clare Buckfield should have won that series over him IMO.

I've not thought of him as being particularly arrogant, but I do agree with you that Clare B should have beaten him. The fact that she didn't, however, is down to public vote. TBH I've never over-rated his skating. Technically he may well be very good (I wouldn't know, I'm not a skater) but I found him lacking performance and personality.

But to even be in the final on tour people must have voted for her so she couldn't have persuaded all of them?

Sour grapes indeed - I suspect he hadn't seen her as a threat before the tour and just because she got on with the judges doesn't mean she was trying to win them over. There was nothing stopping him from trying to win over the judges.

Something which I suspect he has now managed to do - having Karen in some of his own ice shows, and even giving her a 'headliner' tag in one, will I am sure have put him in a positive light as far as she is concerned. I somehow doubt that Bonnie could compete with that!

The judges Kyran was talking about were the guest judges in each city, not the permanent doi judges.
