"OK Google".... in the UK ???

So a new update to Google search is supposed to bring this feature (saying OK Google) to the UK, without having to change your search language settings to US English. But I cant seem to get it to work, it's there if I change to US English though..... hmmmm I am on android 4.2.2, maybe thats the problem.

I'm on 4.2.2.

Open Google search, press menu, settings, press Voice, then make sure "Hotword Detection" is on. And UK English.

My settings here

have you actually had the google search "app" update yet?
you need to wait for that AFAIK.

I have version 3.1.24.941712 installed. I did uninstall and then reinstall from the play store too. Maybe i'm just not getting the latest version for some reason.

that's not the new version.
un-installing and re-installing won't give you the new version. you have to wait for it to be pushed out to you.

Ive done those things, but there is no "hotword Detection" option. I think it just doesn't work with my tablet unfortunately - Asus MeMo Pad HD 7.

EDIT: OK I have just seen chenks post. But I dont understand why it doesnt download the latest version from the Play Store, it even says the latest version is from the 6th February.

Weird.

I noticed saying Google is sufficient. No need for OK.

Think of the time I've saved you.

So how does this work?

I have the update and have the correct settings installed.

Do I need to go inside google now before I can use the hot word or can I just say it like you can on the nexus 5 to launch google now?
