I've seen some that look good. The Samsung BD-F7500, Sony BDP-S790, Panasonic DMP-BDT500 and the Pioneer BDP-450. Good PQ and sound are what im looking for. 3d also for when I get a 3d tv. Smart features I can live without. If anyone has one of these I would really like to hear your opinions on it. I do have Yamaha YHT-399 home cinema system which I do think is brilliant.

I got a Panasonic BDT330 a couple of weeks ago and its shit hot. Was considering the Pioneer as i was also getting a Pioneer AV receiver. Got a panasonic TV so was between those 2 makes. Guy in Richer Sounds however said for Bluray you really cant do better than Panasonic. The 500 is a bit more expensive than the 330 but I reckon theyre on par performance wise

Looked at reviews of it and it does get good ones. Its on amazon for 146 which I assume is a good deal. Not seen it cheaper anywhere else. Just wondering if PQ will be as good on my pioneer which only goes to 1080i.

146 is a good price. I paid 150 from Richer Sounds for it, think Currys wanted 199. I honestly cant fault PQ. I put a DVD on for a couple of minutes and felt it was better than my previous sony player

1 thing that has annoyed me about it however is that the remote control has a dedicated Netflix button which Ive occasionally pressed by mistake so it starts to load instead of playing the disc that id intended. Thats as much to do with my sausage fingers though

Thankfully I don't have sausage fingers. I like the look of it as well.

Avoid the Add-on charge and save 54p with this cable. I've got one and it'll do the job just as well as t'other one. (6,826 5 star reviews on Amazon.com and my 5 star review on Amazon UK): http://www.amazon.co.uk/1-8m-HDMI-Ca...rds=B0002L5R78

I'll be getting a BD player this month as the Netflix and online features will be great (especially now Blockbuster has closed). Cash Converters has a good range of disks from £3 too!

I was looking at the Sony BDP-S790 (gets good reviews) but what I can't seem to find out is if all the online and straming content is output through composite as well as HDMI - can anyone confirm?

As far as I'm aware everything that comes out of HDMI comes out of the Composite as well, although I've never specifically tried it.

I do tend to use Composite occasionally because on some units you only get service displays via Composite, NOT via HDMI (you'd be surprised how long you can spend trying to enter service mode when you connected via HDMI )

Was your cable same as the one advertised. Mine come today but it looks like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDMI-KING-Im...d_sim_sbs_ce_3. Cable is exactly like this but end of it is slightly different. Says hdmi on one side and hdzone on the other.

Blu-ray spec allows the disc to downgrade component outputs to 576i (for obvious reasons). No idea which disks implement this.

Strange. It's the same seller though. Send it back 'not as advertised' if you want. No, my cable was exactly as advertised. As it happens though I bought the HDMI KING Imperial cable for someone else and they're very happy with it. I got an email from HDMI KING saying they would give me a free cable if I gave them a 5 star review, but I didn't. Shows how they get so many 5 star reviews though!

Think I'll keep it. Like many have said, there is no difference between any of them.

Exactly, any HDMI cable (even the poundshop ones) give EXACTLY the picture quality.

The most troublesome ones are the expensive, particularly the 'monster cable' ones - never buy anything with 'monster' in the name

Don't know how they get away with selling them at such ridiculous prices.

yeah , is there really that much difference in '' playback quality'' ,,,,,,,, ok of course there is in build quality etc ,,,,, but is there any real discernible difference in visuals between say a 100quid player and a 1000quid player ,,,,,, is there really a 900 noticeable gap

i have a 58inch lg plasma with matching surround system ,,,,, and my blu ray player has always been the ps3 ,,,, never really felt the need to upgrade ,,,,,, am i really missing that much???

Quite right Nigel!
One of my neighbours had a problem with a Toshiba DVD Player,
I could only get into the service menu using Component or Scart, it was on screen but greyed out when using the HDMI connection!
