Does anyone know when Com 8 from Crystal Palace will start test transmissions? I understand it may be using CH.35. Useful to have on air running on test when it comes to sorting aerial problems and saves on callbacks later on.

I think you'll find it is broadcasting already - there's just nothing on it. You should be able to do manual tune signal checks, that's the case at Sandy anyway.

I think you'll find it isn't, there would have been lots of posts about it if it were. I've seen no sign of it and COM7 comes through perfectly.

My IS2010 picks it up as a valid multiplex and displays the correct modulation, then when it does the channel scan it obviously finds no channels.

Bit crude, but here's some text output, note the difference between COM8 and the non-existant mux it tries to tune to afterwards:

PHP Code:

The details including BBC Four HD are for Mux 7 - presumably Mux 8 is the middle section starting ">>> tune to: 578000.."?

Oh OK, I stand corrected then but I'm not seeing anything here on C35. As well as HD boxes I have an SD box that has the most sensitive tuner and registers the HD muxes with good signal strength (but zero quality obviously as it can't decode them) but it doesn't see anything on C35.

It's certainly possible that CP is different.

I've just scanned the channel (for Sandy) and I'm getting a weak signal (too weak to display anything useful), so there's something there,

No, sorry, I thought CP would be the same since it gets everything first, but obviously not in this case.

Not sure what the hold-up is with the rest of the COM7 roll-out either.

Do we know yet if any other broadcasters have signed up for slots on COM7?

I don't think that's a consistent policy. COM8 came up from Winter Hill back on November 21st, then 28th, then for a couple of brief times in December. I've not detected it since then. The spiders must be getting nicely settled in by now.

Exactly the same with Belmont and Emley Moor. COM8 appeared for a short period around the time COM7 was launched, since then it's not been detected. Probably a good idea not to waste energy running this multiplex until there is something to put on it.

Wrong thread, this has nothing to do with COM8.
