Has anyone any idea what a 7 year old Sony 32" LCD TV is worth as a second hand sale - do they have any value? I only need one TV in the house and the above was replaced by a new Sony Smart 42" TV.
There is nothing wrong with the old one at all and so was thinking of putting a For Sale card in my local PO.
Of course when I bought it almost 7 years ago the TV was ca £800 then but since, I realise that the prices have tumbled.

What model is it?.

Assuming it works fine then it should be pretty saleable.

To see how much it might be worth, try checking similar TVs on Ebay.

It's a V2500 series and was much feted at the time as these 'cult' models sometimes are.

It wasn't a 'cult' model, it was simply a good spec well made set for a bargain price, and thus sold in huge numbers - we sold load's of them

I would have thought £50-£100 would be about the going rate for one?.

I have asked £55 for mine when I make my card out to go in my local PO's window. Can't abide clutter with things no longer being used (two months now) and so want shot of it.

I totally agree - take less and get rid of it faster

Whenever I look at eBay I always check "completed listings" to see what things have sold at. That gives me a guide as to what I should be paying for something I want, or what I want to sell.
Some people list stuff at silly prices.

If you have a spare PC base unit why not hook the TV up to it, add wireless keyboard and mouse and wireless dongle to connect to your home router and put in your bedroom.

For what purpose? I'm 76 years old but have three working laptops, a Samsung Galaxy tablet and an Android Smartphone!

If it's an HD Ready set it'd likely make a pretty poor monitor anyway.

They still make a great monitor - and is higher resolution than many older computer monitors.

They don't make a 'great monitor'. They make an adequate one for media stuff, but, for everyday PC work they are not really up to the job.

I would disagree, set the PC to the correct resolution and they are stunning - and offer a similar resolution to most smaller monitors (in fact the exact same resolution as I'm using this very moment on an Acer monitor).

You may disagree, but, when you are describing it as 'stunning' and 'great' the credibility slips somewhat.
Still, if you enjoy using your TV as a monitor for PC work, everyone's happy.

As it would be both 'stunning' and 'great' I fail to see why you consider that affects my credibility, although it does perhaps cast doubts on yours

I don't currently use a TV for a monitor, as I said I'm using an Acer one, and at home a Packard Bell.

But I did use an Hitachi/Bush (Vestel anyway) as a monitor on a Linux machine I threw together for quite a while, as well as using it as a satellite/VCR/DVD test monitor as well. It performed excellently as a computer monitor.

OK Nigel, as you seem to be entering your second childhood, we can agree to disagree, which will save others from the usual tiresome same old..
The argument seems to be pointless anyway as the OP is not taking your advice.
