Team Challenge

After the duel I had hoped that we had finished with stupid ways of mucking up the leaderboard but then they announced that next week we will have the team challenge...another way as I remember that they take one of the best skaters and put them at the bottom of the leaderboard for no apparent reason.

We have 6 left, all of them ex champions. Why can't they just let things take their course from here on

Said on another thread that Ray's team will probably lose just to supposedly put him in jeopardy.

Eurgh I didn't hear this, so annoyed Team Challenge is my least favourite twist by far, they should do it with both couples getting scored for the team dance and getting that added onto their score, instead of the winning team doubling their score which is just stupid and unfair. I really don't get how the DOI producers don't realise that it was the year that they introduced these ridiculous twists that things started going wrong for the show, and that most viewers would much prefer the show without them.

More pointless rubbish.

Considering that we've already had one Team Challenge this series it's not even an original idea. And that's before you include the fact that it's a crap idea anyway when you have only six people left in the competition, all of whom, because they're ex-champions, are competent skaters.

Ignore my previous post - got Team Challenge and Duel confused.
(Still think both ideas are rubbish though! )

Remember when they used to have to do a different required element each week:
- Assisted and unassisted jumps
- Use of a prop
- Forming a spiral position
- Flying above the ice
- A one footed spin
- Shadow steps
- Cross rolls
- Toe step sequences
- Pair spin
- One unique move
- Solo skate
- Change of edge

They barely do any of these anymore. You would think considering this is an all-star series they would add these in again to show who the good skaters are.

Judging by Nicky's comment to Ray this week, he is looking for them to do a triple loop or triple salchow so maybe they could make a triple jump a required element for this week....although I accept it would result in all 6 of them ending up on their backsides.

The team challenge is boys versus girls. Just watching the boys practicing in the background at Elstree on This Morning while they're interviewing Torvill and Dean! In my opinion even tho the boys have Ray I think overall the girls team are stronger as Kyran and Sam seem to be the weakest performers with the least public support so wouldn't be surprised to see the girls win!

I think the girls will win

And Hayley will finish top of the leaderboard.

I just have the feeling they are scoring her high to protect her from the skate off

Whereas if the bottom three are Ray, Kyran and Sam, how can Sam and Kyran be anything but the skate off?

I disagree that they'll have the girls win. They seem to want Beth and Suzanne out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Hayley score higher than Beth and Suzanne in the normal routines, then all the boys double their scores, leaving Beth and Suzanne in the bottom two. One of them ends up in the skate off and goes home.

I'll be very surprised to see them put the boys at the bottom. It will just give us a Kyran vs. Sam skate off - unless that's what they want?

Maybe they happen to like her, like some of us, and think she's very good, like some of us? Not everything is a conspiracy...

anyway the team challenge is a stupid idea in terms of doubling scores, always was. The idea is fun but the routine should be marked on its own and that score is then added to their individual scores so that it benefits some but not others, just doubling scores and putting good people in jeopardy so far in is unfair, though of course everyone left is good now.

However if the girls lose I still think we're likely to get Sam and/or Kyran in the skate off. I think they'd send Sam home over any girl now, but Kyran could still be saved.

Really hard now...I hope the girls win to keep them safe and god knows Beth and Suzanne need it after the Duel loss. It'll also surely guarantee Sam is a goner if they win

I doubt they want anyone out. Suzanne I agree has been screwed over a bit but Beth is being scored and positioned very well considering how they were with her last year. And has had nice routines.

Can't see two girls in the skate off and if one is against Sam they'll surely be saved. Not so sure about Kyran

Nothing wrong with that, they should both be out next as they are the least strong and appealing now although still very good. Those 2 in the skate off would be ideal and save the better ones til next week.

Phil and Holly were talking to T & D on This Morning on Monday (via link to the training rink), and Ray, Kyran and Sam and partners were on the rink in the background.

They were on the ice, then standing off the side of the ice, so didn't give anything away about the routine

I think this team challenge will be interesting to watch- although I agree that doubling the points of the winners is unfair at this stage.

When I made my original comment I didn't know it was going to be boys v girls. It would seem to be a predictable skate off if the boys lose. In a way it might be interesting if one of the girls were in the skate off, if nothing else it may give s some kind of clue as to who is most popular amongst the girls.
