Rear camera freezing. AF lock appears and cant be deactivated, shutter is frozen - have to reboot ipad to get it to work (maybe).

Add to this Safari unusable due to constant crashing since ios 7 update, Chrome crashing too although less often, and I'm deeply disappointed to say the least.

Anyone else got the camera issue? Apple has swapped out one Air already due to this problem and I can't be bothered to take this one in again and start over again.

Apple communities suggest using Puffin as my browser. Im doing that right now to test. Anyone know how secure it is for things like banking, online shopping? Id normally use Chrome but it quits quite often (goes back to home screen).

Its cloud based like Opera Mini and I think iSwifter.
Standard browsers on IOS are pseudo(a wrapper).

I'd trust Opera but thats just 'limited knowledge'.

cheers. Well I bought something online using Puffin today so we'll see I suppose!
So far it's not crashed. Haven't worked out if it has auto correct settings yet either. Makes typing even harder.
Seems I may have got 2 dud iPad Airs as the camera problem isn't common. So tired of re-installing everything, might just live with it. I expect Apple will rush out a new Air later this year and write this one off as a lemon. Who knows if they'll solve the memory problem though

Puffin should solve most. As its just shows a 'screen view' sent from cloud near zero processing is done on the iPad.

We have had 3 Ipad air's in the house since xmas. Had no trouble with the camera and not experienced the level of crashing on safari that you are. However, safari definately crashes now more than it use to.

For the camera problem, I would suggest taking it back to an apple store. Their customer service is excellent.

Yes, get it exchanged and test the camera extensively before you set up the tablet completely. Maybe even some of your installed apps is interfering with the camera. Not likely, but possible since it happened with two devices already.

Thanks. Using Puffin now and so far so good. The camera problem is intermittent. Im going to try it in different lighting situations to see if there's a pattern, and notify Apple support by phone so it is logged, then take it in when I can. Dont have any apps that I didnt have on the ipad that I dropped and had replaced by insurance. That one wasnt an Air though. No doubt it will have the "toothache's gone when in the dentist's" syndrome and work just fine at the Apple store!

I had several ipads over the years and while they have problems, most are fairly trivial.
Most can be fixed with a shutdown and restart.

If you "jailbreak" good luck to you.

I've had two issues on both an iPad3 and a Mini2 on iOS7.

One was dodgy camera, appeared on both units. A factory reset worked for both.

Second was random Safari crashes. Only, in my experience happens on Mini2.
