I'm not sure if Apple have bought the chicago tribune at some point but it mysteriously refers to them as innovative

Anyway it seems that Apple are complaining about being picked on in court over patents.

Reap what you sow ... kettle pot etc

It's is possible that apple think they have some kind of IP protection over the concept of patent trolling.

Very likely there CEO thinks an entire continent is useless so that would be a minor thing.

Can someone give me the definition of a patent troll, as I'm confused as to why anyone would think apple was one.

Look only Apple can use patents. If anyone tries to enforce patents against Apple, well they are just mean spirited.

But the world is not a fair place. If there was any justice in the world Apple would have a monopoly on tablets and smartphones for the next 20 years.

If you bothered to read the article in full, it's not just Apple complaining: Google, Facebook and others are too. Apple have patents for stuff they've invented, the patent trolls going after Apple et al haven't invented anything, they just want to get money from the patents they've bought which in my opinion allows other companies to complain as it's silly practice.

Unfortunately, you've now ruined the "patent troll" story from the "forum troll" OP.

Its a bit pot and kettle. Apple (along with others) bought the Nortel patents and use a company I think called rock star to go out and sue people for infringement . Which is the very definition of a patent troll.

Who cares about Apple?

They were a fabulous company with some great ideas and boy did they milk them!

Everything has it's time and space and Apple has had it's glory days.

All they seem likely to do now is bitch about others and use litigation to prevent innovation and consumers getting value for money.

Lets not be too harsh though as Samsung look set to trump Apple in terms of handset cost with the new Galaxy 5 but that is their premium product and they offer plenty of alternatives at more affordable cost that make Apple devices look ridiculously expensive.

The courts look like the best place for the retreating Apple boys to hope for in light of the shrinking market for their overpriced devices and their lack of innovation to counter the competitive onslaught.

Why would I defend that if you look back in this forum for when it was discussed at the time, I wouldn't defend it then.

However, what that link has to do with accusing apple of being a patent troll (and google, Facebook, etc) either shows a complete misunderstanding or is just trolling by those who seem to be completely obsessed by apple.

Nice to see you've joined their gang (see, we can all make childish comments, it's easy)

So you disapprove of Apple going after a cafe for infringing their trademark. Yet you don't seem to think Apple are a Troll

If you are talking about a patent troll, you are correct, I don't think they are one.

As google and Facebook were also part of the group, do you consider them trolls?

I'll ask again, what do you think a patent troll is?

As for the cafe story, I think you may have fallen for the headline.
