I'll ask again, what do you think a patent troll is?
As for the cafe story, I think you may have fallen for the headline. Sounds like Apple although other companies do this Apple have enough legal fire power that they use it an attempt to kill off competition and continue Steve Jobs Holy War against Android. |

A patent troll is company who tries to enforce patent rights against alleged infringers in an attempt to collect licensing fees, to stifle competition or force a company withdraw products from market in an attempt to gain a monopoly position.

By your definition every single company is a patent troll, and if that is the case, it is interesting that you seek out Apple as an example. I assume you put Google, Facebook, Samsung and every other large company in that bracket? It is a shame that others didn't read the initial story fully, it's a little sad that their apple obsession clouds their logic. |

Patent trolls are shell companies that buy up what they believe to be valuable patents and then try and gain financial benefit from them by making claims against other companies. They do not make products and do not use the patents themselves.

Non Practising Entity amass large numbers of patents with the intention of launching patent infringement suits against other companies. While none of these companies are NPE's they can still go trolling and Apple do it so well!

They're all at it. I haven't read it but this one will no doubt relate to the emergency calling thing bought form IPCom or someone or other in Germany.

As I said, by your definition every company is a patent troll. I'm totally confused as to why you want to single apple out. I can understand why an article would do it, it helps create headlines for them, but I didn't think others would fall into that trap.

Apple have been particularly vitriolic when going after pretty much any target no matter how petty (see the cafe as good example). Yet you wonder why is there so much bad feeling towards Apple?
It had nothing to do with a patent, and apple didn't go after anyone. I haven't a clue about your claim that apple do it more than others, is that based on fact or your feeling of the situation? |

Sure, they're pretty strong at enforcing their patents and brand, but the same can be said for Google, Nokia, Samsung, etc. |

If you are going to use the cafe example it might be worth knowing what actually went on.

Yes it took the cafe 2 years of legal arguments against Apple who were determined to win the case of trademark infringement. The cafe won argument but Apple should never have gone trolling against the cafe in the first place. Still if you have loads of money then there are plenty of easy targets.
Keep on making excuse for them..... http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...-apple-germany I don't need to make excuses for them. |

There was no case, there was no legal arguments.
I don't need to make excuses for them. Quote:
Römer stood firm and a two-year legal correspondence ensued. Last week Apple withdrew its objection.

Apples vitriol goes way above what would be expected from such a company. The cafe is a very good example and not the only one where their weight has simply frightened opponents into submission before any fight ensues. The same force is felt by reviewers or bloggers who dare to write bad press about Apple or if any possible leaks take place.

I don't need to make excuses for them. Apple asked them to remove their trademark application as it would confuse people. They refused, and 2 years of legal correspondence happened. Apple then backed down. Apple were in the wrong here. They should never, ever have gone after this cafe whatsoever. What kind of idiot thinks people would get confused with a cafe and and electronics designer? |

In 2008 New York City, nicknamed the Big Apple, had to alter its GreeNYC logo after a complaint from Apple. In 2012 Apple filed a complaint against a Polish online grocery store, A.pl. |

They do it often, just that those on the receiving end are so frightened of Apple they give in immediately so gets little attention.
Same as the way they treat reviewers, bloggers etc who cross them, they become pariahs. |

Shame you missed out the bit where apple offered a compromise but the cafe wanted publicity. However, I already said I don't agree with apple action. The cafe story has just created a nice distraction to the patent troll claim. I mean, what idiot would confuse a patent troll with one of the worlds largest companies. |

Considering the amount of time you spend trying to write bad press about apple, have they come after you? That would at least explain the irrational obsession you have with them
![]() You know they don't or never will love you both back in the same way don't you?

No irrational obsession is what you and C_Pie have. The irrational and logic defying need to defend a company at all costs regardless of what they do or how they behave.
You know they don't or never will love you both back in the same way don't you? ![]() You know your obsession will not gain you any love don't you, it just makes you look like a lonely person. Although you are collecting some gang members now

your not making any sense their sorry, you have resorted to usual inane waffle.I have no issue with yours and C_Pies love for Apple, gives you some degree of purpose and belonging. When and if you both realise in time it can only ever be unrequited I am sure you will both become more reasoned. |

I don't need you to try and badly summarise the story, the link given tells us what happened.

Compromise? Why would they want to compromise since they did absolutely nothing wrong? Or can you tell us what they did do wrong.Damn right they wanted publicity. A pathetic attempt by apple to bully yet another place into dropping a logo. I would have done the same. You however would probably have just bent over and taken it. Correct? Quote:

You said there was no story nor no legal stuff. You were incorrect.Quote:

It's interesting that you consider anyone who disagrees with your obsessive rants is suddenly a lover of Apple. It takes your delusion to a whole new level.
