I thought the chemistry between Matt and Alex was absolutely marvellous myself. And it never really occured to me that people would be uncomfortable because of the age gap. Sure, the Doctor's a lot older than her, but so what?

What if the age gap gendre wise was the other way around? (It usually is!)

Matt and Alex had oodles of chemistry, which is why I think Eleven and River did work.

I think he's having a laugh. I remember him once stating that Karen Gillan was "ridiculous" and known as "stupid face Karen" on set. It's just banter I think lol

Moffat dubbed Rose as the 'clingy girlfriend' on several occasions, I'm sure. While River returning would make sense within the narrative (just), I think Moffat should stick to his guns and consider River dramatically 'spent'.

Love Matt. The fact he flew over for a regional Con, seemingly for a bit of a laugh, is great.

Think he did get on well with all 3 memebers of his on screen "family". KG herself said filming the last episode was tough.
Must be hard getting to know people work with them for a while then they leave. Part of the show though. We get new doctors and new companions.

I don't think Matt's wishes count for much. If Alex Kingston is written into a future episode and takes a fancy to Capaldi's Doctor, she'll sit on his face, either way.

I think it is very much a tongue in cheek comment. Why would Matt care whether River returns or not really?
