Well, the title says it all.
I currently live in Plymouth and am with T mobile I've been having problems with the signal since November (calls dropping)and after a few months of complaining/different phones/new sims etc (their suggestions) and a long chat with their technical department (last night) they eventually admitted their signal in my area is hopeless (technical phone ladies words) due to a couple masts being decommissioned and one up grading. They also had no idea on time line of when it will be up and working.

Therefore
I'm jumping ship,
so who would you consider to be a good network that is not piggy backing off EE?

1000+ mins and unlimited texts and some data - I'm also self employed so can get a business tarrif

T mobile did suggest i buy one of their phone boosters to use at home but it would cost me £100.. I laughed. Its a bugger leaving T mobile as I was paying for unlimited everything £11 p/m

All i would like is a carrier that is good and has a good signal. I have looked at the coverage maps and even though it says it is good in areas I know it is not.

any ideas please?

If your phone is unlocked....

Get some free pay as you go sim cards from all the other networks, Vodafone, three, o2, and test them in the areas you're concerned about.

If that's not possible, speak to as many people as you can... Find out what network they're on, and how they find the coverage where you are..

Don't think your signal is going to be any better on any network if I'm honest.

In this instance O2 and Vodafone might be the only real alternatives, with lower frequencies and a different mast network. Three is likely to be similar to EE, but that's not always the case so you could try it.

Try some PAYG sims as suggested above and make sure you test the data on O2/Vodafone if that matters to you, it can be poor outside of towns/cities.

If EE have decommed masts in your area there is a good chance they will give you a signal box for free.... others on here and other forums have reported that.

Be persistent and keep calling, hopefully you will get through to a clued up CS.

Must be a new thing. I used to spend a lot of time in Plymouth (university/city centre/mutley/north hill) and was on T-Mobile, never really noticed bad coverage.

As someone else said, you'd be best getting SIM cards from the other networks (they're free online, £1 in poundland) and trying them in your phone in the places you want to use it, if you have an unlocked phone.

I'd give it another few weeks before you leave. What area of PM are you having issues?

They said the good base station is at the uni. I'm 10 min walk away and I'm nearer the other base units where the problems are. Did try for a free box but spoke to 3 people and. They said nope. I'm going to see about getting my alcatel spop unlocked as I like it and don't need anything else.. not worried aboutphone fashion though I wish Android came. With buttons ..... anyway yeah unlocked try a few sim cards....got to change as loyalties deal runs out march 14th so requested pac code as business number.my mum ison orange in Herefordshire. You used to get a signal in the house now you have to go to the rock pile and stand on it at the end of the garden.. bit crap me thinks anyway. When. I was in the store they told me the signal in my area was good 3g etc and I shouldn't have problems when tech line said otherwise ah well... thank you for advice
